I don’t think they were talking about taxes, unless I’m mistaken. It’s obviously about wage theft, right?

Edit: Nvm I forgot taxes work differently in the US

Taxes themselves are not theft, but the misuse of those taxes (such as waging purposeless war, refurbishing your gifted airplane emoluments, funneling money to a family member’s private business, putting public money into crypto scams, or vandalizing public monuments) is a kind of theft.

That’s embezzlement from the treasury, which is different than pretending that taxes going into the Treasury is theft.

But in reality, community expenses don’t pay themselves and only whiny lolbertarian babies think that taxes to pay for those things is theft, so it is “arguable”, but making the argument says more about you than about taxes.

Hey I’m okay with paying forty percent tax when it helps feed, clothe and shelter the needy and funds our universal healthcare.

I hardly think a tradie should be hitting a 40% tax bracket, let the rich pay the high rates not the struggling workers.

The mean annual wage for a tradie is $43K, which should put them in the 12% tax bracket.

So all those other taxes are adding up to an additional 28%? That’s a pretty unfair tax system for such low income earners.

The rich who extract the wealth from the workers through not paying their fair share of profits should be paying most of it. (Or better yet not allowed to exist in the first place)

The people who need assistance are the ones least capable of paying for it.

Hahaha that’s a funny joke. Job creators 😂 I suppose all that wealth trickles down as well.

The rich are more than well off, they can afford to pay their fair share as our planet dies from the ecological cost of their actions. We don’t need to go defending them.

Wow, it’s weird how that completely change my mind about it. It has several things that point to AI IMO. A lazily done background plant wouldn’t have several of the odd details that it has, and all of those are common AI red flags. Lines “drawn” from an outside edge to an inside detail in a weird way is the most obvious one.

Taxes aren’t theft. They pay for roads and other services everyone uses. Framing them as they is right wing bullshit.

Unless you’re in some crazy tax bracket, I’m fairly sure most Swedes don’t pay 55% income tax.

I checked Skatteverket’s calculator and if I state that I make 1M SEK per year (104k USD) the taxation rate is 33.8%. Heck, even at 10M SEK it’s so only 50%ish.

That’s the income tax. The employer also have to pay “Arbetsgivaravgift”. Whenever something is bought there is a 25% VAT (except food which is taxed lower). Sometimes you have to pay taxes on the price where VAT is already added.

These tax structures exist in the US and other places as well. Besides, the meme referred to income tax so the fact that other taxes exist isn’t immediately relevant here.

And anecdotally, the overall cost of living was less for me in Sweden than it is here in Canada. Taxes don’t tell the entire story.
