  • Don’t feel bad, you want a kid so of course you are happy. With just that you are already a better parent than many.

There will be some challenges, you might struggle a bit relating to the kids world.

Major tip i have with technology/games is do it together so they can learn context from you as events unfold, and they can show you what they actually do with(in) it, helping you assess its value/actual risks.

I am pretty sure you make up for most challenges by general experience in life though, major challenge for young parents is you need to figure out everything for the child while still trying to figure out how to adult.

  • Audio call is the worst actually.

Live communication and no face to interpret context. Absolutely the worst.

“hello are you still there?” While my mind is still processing the previous sentence.

There do exist conditions that will cause me to pick up the phone when you call and unless you meet them i wont even tell you what they are, just send an email or text instead.

  • My dad told me a story of how my grandpa stopped running against him the moment my dad became faster.

He then proceeded to stop playing chess after i beat him. Like he was making an educational point of it.

I love them both, i know them to be bright intelligent people but i will never understand the idea here. When my kids start to beat me at my own games i know i will be nothing but pride and encouragement. I want them to become better then i ever was, isn’t that a point to be made instead?
