I think it’s more so this is what uneducated and propagandized voting gets us. Also continuing anti-voter practices like gerrymandering, PACs, and not employing choice ranked voting. Not to include lobbying, and things like citizens united. Informed people making rational decisions isn’t the problem. The horde of ignorant and propagandized individuals is the problem

It happens. I remember back in 2008 having quite the time learning about Linux with zero awareness of anything. I remember being kinda shocked there was a whole OS that wasn’t windows or Mac and it was free.

Add all the windows refugees with Zorin flooding forums with easily searchable questions and the gaming refugees with nobara complaining their community supported software isn’t as full featured or polished as software produced by a multi-billion dollar company.

Tldr they are ignorant and it taste good and it is normalized.

There’s a time and a place. I used to live in the mountains and do a lot of mountain biking. There were a lot of really tight roads with no bike lanes or shoulder with blind turns and all it would take is someone just not automatically assuming there’s a cyclist on the other side of that turn going 15km/h on a road with a speed limit of 50+km/h to turn a nice bike ride into your last bike ride. I used to barrel down mountain trails and I could never stomach that risk guys would take on the roads.

Arch really isn’t that bad when you’re not mucking around with the AUR. Debian is a little overkill for most normal users in respect to stability but it’s good people have the freedom to do whatever the heck they want with their machines.

Also not really the point I was arguing. It’s pretty clear NN are very different than a human brain. It does though give us some insight to minds more generally but I don’t think current networks are on the order of complexity necessary to really be generating abstractions similar to a human neural network. That said there’s strong arguments to be made about glimpses here and there like models spontaneously creating their own internal workspace like an inner monologue or quasi subconscious. To be clear I’m not saying it is aware or identical to a human mind but it’s interesting to see it self assemlble similar looking structures without any direct guidance.

I think both can more aptly be represented as a special type of graph like from graph theory. Once again fundamentally the human brain isn’t reasoning on the level of neurons and most definitely atoms aren’t reasoning

I don’t think anyone who is aware enough is under the assumption that neural nets are a one to one replication of neurons. It’s more of a special type of graph. That said one could also represent a human brain as a special type of graph.

I’m not saying they are identical but they are similar in the sense that a neuron cannot reason. It’s only in a quite large and densly connected neural network we believe there is reasoning.

Neurons are incapable of reasoning they’re just firing based on a deterministic action potential. What are neural networks doing but creating internal models of reality and guessing what’s next based on patterns?

The white paper on the fundamentals of the current AI push. Everything is for the most part based on that architecture from 2017 but with cleaver twist or two.

It’s giving fancy doctors / realtors office now. I think a modern refresh on the original 60’s look would have been better.

I think the pace of development is such that it’s only a few years before humans are no longer in the chain of decision making. It was just 2017 when the infamous transformer paper came out.

Alright you’re talking about the US. I personally stay in three or four different countries across three continents so sometimes I lose track. I mean you’re free to hit the streets and see what happens but as someone whose actually seen revolutions first hand, it’s not quite time. Too many people are too comfortable. Maybe when there’s no food or water or electricity they’ll be motivated.

Literally anything to relax honestly, it’s not like I’m on here professing my love for fascism so we can just talk to one another like normal people.

Let’s get back to the beginning here. We were talking about Marxism-Leninism and how it is superior to vulgar empiricism and of course I’ve kept on with my original point from the beginning of using the scientific method to determine the best policies and political structures for governance, best in those that measurably increasing human wellbeing.

I guess you could bring in something like the double slit experiment and lot of esoteric science in which there isn’t a clear way to tell which interpretation is the correct one or if it really maps to reality to begin with aka maybe the math works but that’s not actually what’s happening. Although I wouldn’t see the connection between that and deciding how best to structure a city.

It really doesn’t take much to see if people are healthy and happy, are prospering and living in a better state of being than they were before a policy was implemented.
