This Black Bear above Pasadena is looking beautifully healthy in her mountain habitat, during some great springtime weather.

Still blows my mind that’s the Los Angeles basin down below. Every time I go mountain biking up in the San Gabriels, I still get freaked out a bit when I find bear tracks.

I happened to see the water mark and a search and a few minutes later, I’m trying to convince myself I don’t need several metal prints of these photos. The one titled Cassie might be my favorite.

They are trail cams/camera traps, according to her website. She has a page of recommended equipment for such.

Their website mentions she does quite a bit for conservation efforts. I would guess that her setups are as non-invasive as they can be. Some animals are just naturally inquisitive based on some regular schmo trail/game cams I’ve seen.

He looks like he’s been waiting for me to stop by all day, and like he wants to show me his new pit smoker.

I know its not but it almost looks like its posing on a set with a fake background like when you get family pictures done or something

Aside… I wish there was a community for real animal photos that look like taxidermy 😂

I’m trying to figure out what looks fake about it, because I thought that too. I know it’s not, so maybe it’s the lighting? Maybe it’s that the bear is looking into the camera? Or that everything is so in-focus? Or that it seems like an unnatural pose for a bear?

Either way, I enjoyed your description of why it feels fake 😂
