I feel like this comic is trying to imply that Robocop (a classic Verhoeven satire) does not have a cerebral element…?
Not sure I would agree with that take.
Robocop is a great film that works on many layers. I think the implication is that Rae probably isn’t watching for the devastating satire of Reagan’s America, but more of the “blowed up real good” side of things.
Ed Neumeier can write a script that is both smart and entertaining… as long as it specifically satirizes late 20th century American fascism.
And cribs ideas and lines (I’ll buy that for a quarter!) from Kornbluth’s “Those Marching Morons”
