It almost looks like you’d expect the walls to start closing like one of those spiked wall traps.

3·21 hours agoThe concertina has historically been a favorite instrument among people who travel often (due to its small and compact size), leading it to be a common instrument among soldiers, sailors, and cowboys. One was even brought aboard Robert Peary’s 1891 expedition of the Greenland Arctic. Despite the pop-culture association of the concertina with the Golden Age of Piracy, the concertina was invented approximately 100 years after the heyday of piracy in the North Atlantic.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•How to fight text message spamEnglish
341·2 days agoActually this one’s believable. The script typically follows:
“Do you want to go golfing this weekend” “Are you coming to the bbq Saturday” “Hey this is so-and-so” Etc.
And if you reply “who is this” or whatever to that effect the bot will say “Oh I’m sorry” or something like that. Then later follow up with a “my names _____” usually followed by a picture of an Asian woman, and then an attempt to “get to know” who the bot is talking to.
The whole mistaken identity bs to establish a dialog and try to form a connection with a random stranger to scam them.

15·6 days agoI don’t think it’s about hating pride month itself, rather how corporations make meaningless gestures based on profit margins. Example Target pulling LGBTQ+ merch a year or two ago because it being anti-DEI was in fashion. Or how Tesla used to boast being the most inclusive workplace, and now, well, yeah.
