  • I’ve never been big on social media, kinda hate it really, best I can do is a comment a couple of comments a week on lemmi/YouTube, but every time people talk about Tumblr or define it sounds like a place I might have belonged to (even when they define it in a negative way 😂)

I’m assuming this meme doesn’t count the end “glow up” of the character though, which defines the film as a product of its time.

I always voted left and don’t have piercings or tattoos. Nothing wrong with them and many people have really awesome pieces of art.

But just wanted to point out that the left, by definition, is all about diversity and welcoming all flavours of self expression, so trying to box us like that doesn’t work so good.

In case it reads weirdly, this was not an attack, just an observation.

  • “somewhat old” person opinion warning ⚠️

When I was in university (2002 or so) we had an “AI” lecture and it was mostly "if"s and path finding algorithms like A*.

So I would argue that us the engineers have been using the term to define a wider use cases long before LLM, CEO and marketing people did it. And I think that’s fine, as categorising algorithms/solutions as AI helps understand what they will be used for, and we (at least the engineers) don’t tend to assume an actual self aware machine when we hear that name.

nowadays they call that AGI, but it wasn’t always like that, back in my time it was called science fiction 😉
