  • The headline and graph are pretty misleading imo. The declining projection seems to indicate some kind of regression. Those are yearly emissions though. As soon as we use up earths CO2-budget, which is pretty soon, everything above 0 will have devastating consequences and they will worsen with every single day that the graph stays above 0. The headline stating “progress made” is also misleading in the way that it makes it seem as if we are somehow weakening climate change, but its just that we are accelerating climate change at a slightly lower rate than predicted. Also, if we take into consideration the predicted consequences of those enormous (predicted) emissions and compare them to current predicted consequences of the much lower emissions, we are still worse off than we thought we were. Its highly likely that we still underestimate the consequences of climate change.

  • What is this bullshit argument?

    Your argument.

What is this bullshit argument? If a lightbulb stops working after 10 years, is it as useless as a lightbulb that breaks after 10 minutes?

Did I write they have to be impossible to overturn?

Why are you implying that real communism would be easily overturned? Its never been implemented.

A political and economic system is not some random piece of infrastructure, like a solar panel.

And its also not a magic potion.

A padlock that can’t hinder an intruder is a bad padlock.

A political and economic system is not some random piece of infrastructure object, like a solar panel padlock.

Youre saying a political system can only work if there is not a single aspect that can be taken advantage of? Thats equivalent to every single person being controlled 100% in their actions. If thats your idea of ideal, sure. I guess some people currently being in leading positions would agree with you.

The US is currently in the middle of a fascist takeover, while being a Democracy (in the past at least). Are you saying Democracy is not a political system worth pursuing because it doesnt work?

  • Maybe I didnt word it well. I didnt mean thats the literal message, I was just mocking the way gatekeeping elitist programmers talk. Just because you can do everything in command line, doesnt mean you dont need a UI for anything other than games.

Principles that Im referring to are e.g. abstraction and ‘divide and conquer’. IT exists to make things simple that would otherwise be hard (to put it simply). Why would you deliberately abstain from using an abstraction that makes API testing easier and faster?

Not saying Postman is good btw, but there are alternatives and command line is not one I would recommend to a sane person (maybe to someone that needs a way to feel superior and brag about being a hardcore programmer).
