I once got a token for a shopping cart when I just wanted the shopping cart and give the other guy the 50 cents I suspected in there. He told me that he had gotten the token as a gift himself and that I should pass it on when the time has come.

A few years later I gave it to someone who didn’t have any coins with them.

And now I remember a story that should be more important. A complete stranger paid for our engagement rings.

I wanted to propose to my girlfriend with a very special ring. One from a gumball machine. Gumball machines have become rare enough. One with rings was almost impossible to find. I’d always take different routes to and from work and stuff to watch out for one.

So one day I finally found one. With rings besides other toys. It took 20 cent coins but I didn’t have a single one on me. But I spied a woman walking along on the other side of the road. I sprinted to her end explained my conundrum. She had three coins. I offered a euro in return but she refused.

The three coins netted me five balls from the machine. I think it was broken and I could have gotten them without any coins. Anyways, in the five balls were three rings. I chose the one with the most beautiful stone for her and one without a stone for myself. I posed the question as soon as I arrived home.

People close to me use the term “therian” for what is colloquially called “furry”.

I was once at some children party thingy where they had free cotton candy. My friend and I ate so much that we completely swore off of the stuff for all eternity.

Then I went and got married to a gal with a cotton candy machine…

Depends of course. But when I moved states to get closer to my in-laws I looked for programming jobs in the nearest city. There were exactly two available. One was for an address broker. I only applied to the other one.

Primitive Technology can also select their tools for maximum gain. Apparently it’s relatively easy when you’ve got the right woods and kindling.

When you’re somewhere in the wilds your wood might be too hard, too soft or too wet or whatever.

Bummer. Maybe you can get that from some other distro’s package and add to the library path.

But at that point going the Proton route is probably easier.

Maybe. But more importantly, it downloads a new binary.

Windows version is also problematic.

For a long long time compnies provided dedicated servers to their players. Sometimes included in the game files, sometimes as separate downloads. Often it was just a Linux binary, sometimes both Windows and Linux. Players would then have to enter the IP of their desired server.

Sometimes a central server would list all the available servers. For the Unreal games that was recently shut down. The community created a new one and patched the games to use it instead of the official one.

With games like Minecraft or Baldur’s Gate 3 the server is even included in the game. If Microsoft and Larian and Steam went away you could still play them that way with minimal fuzz.

They look like puppets and not real living wild animals.
