California could pull this off, given its industry, agriculture, and Pacific seaports. New York, where I live, has lost too much industry and agriculture to be self-sufficient. Joining Canada, though, could help assuage some of those deficits.

A couple of years ago, but I don’t drive all that far most days. It sure seems like there are fewer and fewer. For instance, last summer, I saw fireflies for the first time in over a decade. This can’t be good.

As a volunteer firefighter, I stepped over a hose in the dark and fell into a drainage ditch. Tore the ligaments in my ankle and chipped the bone.

For sheer aggravation, Facebook. I’ve been on it long enough to remember the chronological timeline, which made it easy to see your friends’ posts. Now you basically have to visit your friends’ profile to see what they’ve posted recently.

Instagram/Threads I don’t hate quite so much, but I avoid Meta products as much as possible due to my hatred of Zuck. I left Twitter and Reddit a while ago, not because I hated them but rather because I hate Elon and spez.

I have, and I’m disappointed. It was going to be my next Subaru, now I’m thinking Crosstrek, as long as it doesn’t get upsized.

The government naively assumed the auto makers wouldn’t notice the gaping loophole in the CAFE standards and then did nothing while trucks grew to outlandish sizes.

My Subaru Forester is not a tiny SUV. I was parked between two pickup trucks the other day, and my roof was only slightly higher than their hoods. The Simpsons’ Canyonero is no longer a parody.

Congress hasn’t passed much of anything lately. They just let Trump do his executive orders. But even if they felt like doing anything at all, the GOP has control and can count on a few Dems to follow along.
