There is a difference between going from a GUI based OS to a hybrid GUI/console OS.
For both iOS and Android the only difference is where things live. The processes are still the same.
This is not the case with Windows and Linux. If you want to install something in Windows you go to a website and download an installer. For Linux, you find out if there is a package. If not you go to a website and see if there is an app image or zip file. You then need to know where to place the downloaded file, how to get it running (making it executable), knowing how to chmod and chown (it is better to have to do it like in Linux, but it is an extra step), and how to add it to your desktop (there is no right+click and add to desktop/create shortcut option in Arch based distros like there is on Windows). If there is a service component you may need to go into command line and systemctl to enable it.
Your comparison to iOS and Android is not really appropriate.

Can confirm. Just switched to Linux about 2 weeks ago. I am happy enough, but there was a brutal learning curve. This was for a distro that is user friendly, too. I was able to install just fine, but actually getting my environment set up is an ongoing process.
Many Linux distros are getting there, but they still aren’t ready for casual users.

I have no idea how you and your other up voters read what I wrote and thought “semantics”.
Arguments are “I am right, you are wrong.”
Conversations are “I feel I am right, and you feel you are right. Let’s try to understand each other and figure out where the disconnect is and how we can meet on common ground to come to an outcome we are both happy with.”
There are nuances. Arguments have an undertone of superiority. Conversations have an undertone of trying to understand the other person’s perspective and realizing that if somebody has the same perspective as you then you wouldn’t be in the situation to begin with.
Now, I want to make it perfectly clear that there are some things where there is no room for conversation - things where facts are being disputed.
This post is an argument since I am too lazy to engage in conversation.

Arguments are for children and those with the mental maturity of a schoolyard bully.
Conversations are where the mature people duke it out, and the point of a conversation is not to win but to see each other on equal ground, understand the position of the other party, and come to a conclusion that benefits both parties.

Maybe it is the fear of being shot for stepping on someone else’s property. Many people with kids also can’t afford to live in a house, and apartment complexes don’t do door to door trick or treating.

What wasnt conveniently covered is what happens when your container goes down and how to architect recovery. Your simple flow diagram is no longer simple.
I generally agree with the rest of the article.
This is not thread safe.
When a company changes their motto away from “don’t be evil” you know damn well they are evil.
If we are in a voice call I will never watch anything anyone sends to me immediately because they are going to continue talking over it anyway.
If the video is something I am genuinely interested in I will watch it regardless of length, otherwise 5 to 7 minutes is my max range.
It failed and shut down just like all his other businesses.

My bathroom door is like this at home. The idiot that had the door installed chose a door with a lock button that sticks out way too far for a door so close to the wall. You can press the lock simply by opening the door too far, and if it closes behind you, you are now locked out.
I have to keep a screwdriver near my bathroom door to unlock it.
Making the new wall is not a money generator. You would be insane if you think suits would waste money to rebuild something when it generated minimal to no additional revenue.
They are not allowed to charge you for this, and it was not made clear in any way that your former boss would charge you. Any lawyer worth their salt would laugh this out of court.
In many areas they are also legally obligated to give you the information you requested free of charge.

I’m not a scientist, but I think it is because humans like patterns, which is what music is. What makes random banging and loud noises annoying and how is that different from music? I think the answer is that music has patterns. What makes people like or hate different types of music is that they like one pattern over another.

My friends and I use it as an excuse to have a get together. None of us use it to celebrate the United States or its independence.

I was laid off from a place I only worked at for a month and I could already tell I was going to hate it there. The separation was mutual, but still took me 3 months to get over it. It is frustrating to lose your income and coverage, and it is even more frustrating to have to jump through the hoops of hell known as the job market. You are not alone, and the feelings you have are perfectly normal in today’s society.

They may have more flavor but there is an increased risk of food poisoning or stomach issues later. On the other side of the argument, this comparison only works with higher-end restaurants as the image appears to be alluding to. Food trucks can be and often are better than restaurants that just don’t give a damn because food trucks are generally works of passion. The problem is that it is really hard to keep a mobile environment sanitized.
Assuming you have enterprise software that actually has a budget and isn’t driven by suits then dedicated roles will get you superior software that can last a long time almost every time.
Full stack is also slightly dangerous since you can silo entire features to a single person. The same can be said to dedicated roles depending on the setup, but the points of failure are much narrower if that one guy wins the lottery or is but by a bus.

You have it backwards. As with all things beauty, it isn’t about having the courage to do it - doing it gives you courage and confidence.
I have PTSD from people ignoring compiler warnings, so the squiggly kills the intent for me.
