I am careening towards the elderly part faster than I would like. But maybe we got along so well because of some autistic synergy.
I knew him quite well. He is very autistic and just as equally nice.
I once had an autistic, elderly man living above my room. Whenever I sneezed, I would hear “gesundheit” from the ceiling.
“The aristocrats!”

I just noticed this on our calendar and had to wonder if the boss of the calendar company made them put this here.
Edit: Wikipedia says it is real:
Boss’s Day (also written Bosses Day or Boss’ Day) is generally observed on October 16 in the United States. It has been pitched as a day for employees to thank their bosses for being kind and fair throughout the year.
Samosas with spanakopita filling. I call them spanakomosas.

All you can eat sushi. It doesn’t need to be great, just all I can eat.
Yeah, the last time they charged was Snow Leopard in 2009. Everything has all been free since. Snow Leopard was really a dream to use, though. If paying $30 would get us back to that kind of luxury, I would gladly pay for the privilege.
I worked at a shelter and one night an indigenous man had a heart attack. An elder came in later that day, lit some sage and smudged the place. At one point she stopped, and ushered something unseen out the back door.
The guy wasn’t dead. He was stabilized at the hospital. He returned to the shelter that night.
I generally enjoy and appreciate these rituals for bringing the community together and collectively processing grief and reminding us we are all important to each other. I am even giving her the benefit that she maybe performed this extra bit only to bring peace to those experiencing loss. But, oof. I needed a post-cringe shower after that.
The movie is called Deadly Friend. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend taking the time to watch the whole thing just for the gif moment. It is totally ‘80s cheese, if you are into that sort of thing.
Edit: I’m looking at what community I have posted in and realizing I probably could and should have picked literally any scene from Mary Poppins but I didn’t and now you all have to watch a watermelon in a wig explode.
This was 1961 which is definitely not the ‘80s. However, I get your point; practical effects may have been — and were often — jank, but it was real and tangible and I loved it, warts and all.

This is how you become a character in House of Leaves.
Good lord, they do look just like my husband and me. I’m going to use this and a photo of us to make a “they’re the same picture” meme.
I don’t think the infrequent vibrations would contribute much to stem hardening. Granted, I’m not convinced the directly talking to plants thing contributes significantly to carbon monoxide harvesting. Just set up two USB powered fans that turn on and off every now and then. The gas you release as you sing My Humps from the kitchen will reach them.

Oh, no, this is the next big startup fad, isn’t it?
I thought the singing to plants thing was all about the directly breathing carbon dioxide onto them.
