  • Do they have options?

I gave up Taco Bell after college as “not actual food”, and for decades only went to McDonald’s in a road trip or Wendy’s for a frosty. There was a cheap local-ish burger joint that sometimes took their place but it was a bit out of the way …… then we got Chipotle and Panera!!! Fast food that’s actual food and not quite as bad for you. And now it’s the same price or cheaper.

My burrito cost less than your Big Mac meal while being more filling. It has less sodium, less saturated fat, actual fiber and vegetables, and tastes so much better.

We do have at least one authentic burrito place that’s even better and cheaper but you can’t order online. Chipotle group orders are the god of food apps

  • Even to Washing hands. Sometimes when I first get up, my back protests about bending over so much to be able to wash hands in my bathroom sink.

Building code has a small range of allowed counter and sink heights, and it’s definitely not for the benefit of taller people. A buddy of mine has vessel sinks, adding like 4” to the height and it is so much easier

  • I have no idea where your lore is from, but I like it! As a taller and bigger guy, I see no better way to go out than protecting my love my partner from hordes of barbarians. Let my ribs be impenetrable armor and my femur be an armor splitting bludgeon for her berserker rage. Tales will be told and songs will be sung, and …… crap, she’s now my ex. Forget it, I’ll fertilize a tree when the time comes

  • A little disappointing.

I had been pretty well consolidated to just lightning cables for everything. It did what I needed, the connector is small, reversible, easy to use, and it fit most electronics for my family of four. I had built up a nice stable of accessories like power banks and charging blocks that fit everything and hadn’t needed to buy anything new in years.

The switch to USB-C came with great fanfare and seemed like a good idea. However it really doesn’t give me any direct benefits and I have to buy all new accessories. Now I’m in a transition mode for a few years where I need usb-c, usb-a, and lightning cables and chargers. Worst of all the market that I kept being told was leaving behind still has more support for usb-a - my laptop has mostly usb-a, even new model motherboards for building my kids gaming computers are mostly usb-a, I don’t see a good selection of usb-c chargers, power banks are still mostly usb-a, keyboards and mice are usb-a, kvms are usb-a, etc

Trying to switch to usb-c has meant more cable types rather than fewer. It has meant buying duplicate chargers and it has meant less convenience where usb-c is not really mainstream yet. Hopefully the market will more fully adopt usb-c quickly but I meant to be a late adopter to this transition and feel almost like an early adopter

  • It all depends on whether they’re competent and can act together for their goals. Many of those goals are truly horrible, but

    • Trumps first term was incompetent, fractured. Despite all the chaos and destruction, they did nowhere near as much damage to peoples lives and democracy as they wanted to
    • My conservative brother is all too typical, dismissing the worst statements as “he’s not serious. He’d never do that”. We have to hope people like my brother are right
    • their goal is narcissism and their methods are stoking outrage: is it possible they’re not actually evil, don’t actually pay attention to what comes out of their own mouths? Are they even capable of working together? Making Trump rich and stoking his ego would be a travesty, but far less damaging than what he says he’ll do

  • Why do they even need runways for taking off? Yeah you want to make sure your engines start but it’s not like you need to reach a specific speed to get in the air nor do you need to be generating lift.

Imagine how much more quickly you could react by just dropping all your aircraft off the side at the same time (with engines running) rather than be bottlenecked behind individual runway use
