But I went to use OpenOffice, not watch it do its thing in the background…

Copilot made improvements to the infrastructure.
Yeah it is but I guess there is nothing anyone can do about it now. People wont admit it but they know thats how most or all programmers will work in the future.
I stopped enjoying writing code completely, but its been interesting to watch everyone else who started to enjoy it MORE with Ai.
It seems to be a certain group of programmers who always were more motivated by getting the result out the door than the experience of putting code together in a certain way.
I suspect the era of high salaries as a programmer is over, since companies now feel they can replace people even easier.
Nostalgia for final destination movies. But I think I only liked them when growing up with them. I tried rewatching and they are pretty bad actually… Hehe.
You were the only person here who double checked if this is even real, or AI slop.
I think we are going to see so much popular content not even be real. And people will defend it, thinking you are weird for wanting only real stuff, using terms as “who cares”. Its funny. :)
How many users here are bots, to begin with…
It may be time to walk outside. Cant fake real people. Yet.
Strange. I can definently not agree. I think men look awesome. And im a heterosexual attracted to women, of course. But still, I think men look good.
I mean, not the men who let themselves go completely. But just ordinary men. Looks fine!
And honestly, when men get to 35 or so, they look better than women. At least my opinion.
True freedom to live outside the matrix.
Its basically living in a city that makes everyone so completely dependent on the matrix to survive.
And it changes your mindset too. All the pressure of work and then watch Netflix until you pass out, and you have to buy all these coping mechanisms like gym card, nice car, nice house…
Someone who lives outside can just say no to all of that, and they get plenty of exercise just moving around more and fixing things than the ordinary city dweller.
I really hate apartments. They are like prison cells.

3·11 days agoI think there is something more sinister but thats another topic. Its not hard to see how America has really turned evil the last 10 years and its not just money. The mindset has completely changed.

4·11 days agoJust be careful to not drive all traffic to only large instances, because then people who run smaller ones may not get enough users to keep doing it. How healthy will Lemmy be if everyone uses the same five instances?
Its already a bit of a problem with the large instances being so dominating.
Winter is beautiful. I take daily walks near the forest and it can be better looking than in summer.

Yeah im currently on a sabbatical and I dont think I will go back to working in tech.
But ive been working with it for 25 years in different roles. Im just tired of seeing the same thing being reinvented again and again under different names.
I dont feel excited about micro services or AI or blockchain. Its just more and more complexity all the time and its exhausting, not interesting.
Also the culture has changed. It used to be a fun profession for figuring out how to write the code to solve something. Now its telling agents what to do, and pressure to always work hard.
It wasnt like that before. The company needed your skills and they couldnt push or replace people very easily. Which meant they treated you well and didnt stress you.
Yeah stuff like that. Or “where is bennet? He is letting off some steam”. :)
I also dont know what that means. They are all epic.
Ive seen people have their partner or their kids but no, not themselves.
I mean, also look at how windows installs programs. Its like a 100 step process taking several minutes, because just putting the files where they need to be is just too simple.
Or the uninstall program, cant just remove the files, no… Need to run full installer backwards to remove all the registry entries and even reboot the system to get rid of it all.
God sometimes rolls the dice and goes… Oh.

Im also 50 and working out, definently worth it. It not even difficult to lift some weights 3 times per week.
Ive been doing it for a year and im happy with the dumbbell chest press. Got up to 32 kilo per hand and will try to get that higher this year.
