This song came up and I saved it. The AI generated album art was offputting, but I don’t know many people who are putting out this style of music currently, so I went looking for more.

All the covers are AI generated and all of their music is from 2024-2025. I can’t find anything about them online despite their bio saying:
The Smoothies formed in 1973, blending Detroit’s raw soul and Memphis’s bluesy influences. Their unique sound quickly resonated with the vibrant 70s music scene. Throughout the 70s and 80s, The Smoothies recorded prolifically with a small indie label, creating cult classics. Despite not achieving mainstream fame, they amassed a dedicated following. Decades later, they teamed up with producer Paul Martini to restore and remaster their extensive back catalog. This collaboration reintroduced their timeless sound to both old fans and new listeners.
Lately, The Smoothies embraced the motto: “You’ll never know” and so they decided to jump into the music market…“Better late than never.”.
Is it a bot that is stealing real music? Or is the music itself fake? The song sounded slightly off, but I could chalk that up as an intentional artistic choice.
Consider other streaming services than Spotify, like Deezer or Tidal or Qobuz, that pays the artist better and don’t do deceiving garbage like this.
Probably an instance of Spotify “Ghost Artists”. Spotify pays unknown musicians small amounts to record generic-sounding tracks and sign over all royalties to Spotify.
…And I wouldn’t be surprised if they are using AI to generate the artist backstory and album art.
Spotify is leaning very heavily into the ai slop music. It’s a way for them to not have to pay real artists commission.
Not that Spotify pays artists as much as other platforms do and Spotify also harvests immense amounts of data from users, which is fucking creepy. They also bought and platform that idiot Joe Rogan.
Check out bandcamp for some indie artists selling their albums. Spend a bit of time looking into new talent and supporting them directly when possible.
I can’t believe they pay musicians shit but they paid Joe Rogan $100M. What the hell kind of priorities are those.
prioritys that pay the beat performing audio tracks better than the worse performing ones. If the artists wanted to be paid more they would make songs that people listened to over and over and over again.
As a hardstyle enthusiast, most of that on Spotify is AI generated bullshit nowadays and only few are original hand made mixes.
Heck yesterday I was banging to “until the end” by master blaster lol
The covers are definitely AI generated, look at the car to the left and the last digit of the title

If discogs has no record, it’s likely fake:
Damn, I’m not there, but I swear my artist profile is real. lol
It’s definitely AI. It released like 5 albums in 2025.
That part could be attributed to reissues, per the bio in OP’s comment
Louie Zong has a comparable schedule and has been doing his thing since well before ai was anything but scifi fodder.
I’m not saying you’re wrong on the ai part of this, but some people definitely do just make a lot of music very fast.
Edit: spelling and phrasing
I just wanna jump in to say that I am a musician and I have never fucking had Spotify and never will. Same for iTunes.
I do put music on YouTube but I’m not happy about it.
If you have recommendations, I will take them, please and thank you
