Autism@lemmy.world•At school were you on the "gifted and pleasure to teach" end or "would do well if applied self and stopped getting distracted"?English
13·10 months agoI was gifted, pleasant to teach, and distracted the teachers by asking tangential questions that were interesting enough for them to answer, thus derailing the entire class. One teacher actually put that in my report card and complained about it to my parents.
Not that I’ve been able to find. I rarely notice but when I do it’s quite frustrating.
I’m using a Shield TV Pro with the default launcher disabled, replaced with FLauncher, and the netflix and voice search buttons disabled via button mapper.
I’m 1000% happy with it and absolutely would not go back to an actual HTPC.
Oh, I also uninstalled youtube and replaced it with SmartTube Beta

2·1 year agoMy firewall is closed, nothing is forwarded. This is all on my LAN only. I just don’t want the non-https ports available at all, even on the LAN.

I think every language probably sounds silly if transliterated into another language
Kansas is mainly wheat country. But yes there was one remarkably huge tree between my hometown and Wichita. Legend has it that it was a landmark during the westward expansion back in the olden days because it was the only big tree on the way to the Rockies.
I grew up in rural Kansas and I’ll have you know we had a tree!

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Was the first SSN to be assigned in the US just 000-00-0001?English
42·1 year agoNo, originally the first three digits designated where you lived when you requested your SSN. The middle two were also not sequential. The final four digits were the only purely sequential ones.

What you meant to say is “the dust is coming from inside the house!”
