Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•when you thought it couldn't get any betterEnglish
1·8 months agoOr there won’t be a windows at all anymore is what I’m getting at. This is likely to be the last version. There’s just not a big reason to invest is making a windows OS at this point and Microsoft has been making moves to prepare for when everyone else realizes this too. The Trump regime has dramatically accelerated the shift toward a windows-free workflow in other countries and we will still need to business with them so…yea

4·8 months agoThere won’t be a 12. Microsoft doesn’t care about the OS market as much anymore. They make their money elsewhere now.
I think it’s worse. It’s negligence. If their OS works, they don’t care what it does to the rest of your computer.

16·8 months agoGet a picture of yourself taking a shower. Print that onto the shower curtain.
Windows is literally designed to break multi-boot setups. Funny enough, multibooting on a Mac was never a big problem. Microsoft has more of a reason to cooperate here and they just can’t help themselves.

1·8 months agoManjaro is sort of speedrunning things. It is not a responsibly managed project. You CAN get shit done with manjaro the same way you can drive to work by just flooring the accelerator the entire way. It’s a bad idea but technically it can work.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Hey Lemmy, what browser do you use and why?English
2·8 months agoDont even get me started on software keyboards. Microsoft used to make one called word flow that I absolutely loved and they killed it. I cant handle big phones without it so I went back to smaller phones once it died.

2·8 months agoSafari is my daily driver but I also have Firefox and edge installed for other things. I was just anticipating getting shit of for actually liking safari.
Firefox is fast and useful for stubborn web pages that just refuse to cooperate. Edge is great for when I need a chromium browser for something since I refuse to install chrome on my hardware. Sometimes I need webserial and that’s just not going to happen in safari. Firefox is good for quick dives into I2P and other funkiness I want to play around with.
There’s a strong bad email in this question.

There are some peculiar machines out there that can misbehave in weird ways when you take windows off them. Unless you bought your computer from Walmart you are probably fine though. Linux has dramatically improved over the years while windows got so much worse. It’s just better now.
Windows is for stupid people at this point who don’t want to learn anymore.

Screwdriver right in the eye socket. Amazing I didn’t lose the eye.
Many monitors have an audio out port in the monitor itself now. Really useful if you have multiple inputs.
There are DisplayPort cables that don’t have the latch if you prefer them.
Africa sounds terrible. You live in a place where they still use VGA? How horrible.
