Older rams had a trans that would absolutely break or grenade itself. New rams, as much as their engine and electronics still suck ass, have a ZF Transmission and it’s REALLY good. Dead reliable and holds power.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What Youtube channel has maintained high quality standards over the years?English
2·1 month agoLSC as a car-tuber is just such a gift. No click bait, no rage bait, no being a dick in his cars. Just a love of vehicles and working on them. Him and Doug DeMuro are like the only thing keeping me sane in the car community since all the others turn to super cars, buying insanely expensive stuff, and just constant environmental shitting and debauchery. I know my cars aren’t great for the environment, but the way other car-tubers just open pollute and destroy the environment is disheartening.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Lemmings over 30 who try to stay active, what are you doing to accommodate for your incredibly decrepit bodies to avoid boo-boos?English
6·2 months agoI cannot stress to people how much rowing is actually enjoyable as someone who doesn’t want to “make time” for working out. It’s so relaxing.
Fuck heads already do because they say “America refers to all of Americas, not The United States.”
But also, as a Californian I apologize a lot and listen to mariachi music. You know that states can be culturally as different as nations, right?

3·3 months agoThe moss on the wood retaining wall say this isn’t near a warm/desert climate.
That said, it’s a RAM TRX. Great truck for dune jumping and pleasantly reliable. My only complaint with them is that it’s a whole lotta horse power for a truck whose tires limit it to 104. I love going fast in my fun cars, but the sacrifices Baja trucks (raptor and TRX) make are just pointless to me. Great resale values though.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Did Border Control exist in previous eras? (Say, like 500+ years ago or more) Can people go to other places? If so, what does the procedure look like? Just walk across a border?English
10·3 months agoI mean… one of the great wonders of the world is literally a border wall with its own border patrol that was placed on it. Albeit a lot more complex than that, but that’s sort of the gist of it. It helped to keep “invaders” out and operated as an early warning system, but effectively was a border patrol.

2·4 months agoIt’s a smaller unit for my camera setup and it’s in a cooler area. When I open the safe up it’s basically the same temp. So I’m not worried about thermal performance. At least on that front. The camera system is just for home monitoring. The main components (what you mentioned being concerned about) stay hidden too behind the closet wall in my office and the wall is an interior wall so thermally they stay pretty smooth.

11·4 months agoSince the other comments seem to be less than useful ideas on things you didn’t ask about…
I keep my NAS/Video server for my home cameras in my gun safe. Costco has a gun safe (really can be used for anything like documents too since it’s fire rated) that had power cable running to the inside. I used the same path to run a data cable and keep it all locked up in there with a monitor mounted on top and a UPS in the middle. My safe is close to my room with the idea being if someone wanted to break in I’d keep the footage. Not that anyone would, but like you seem to be asking I’m more concerned about the what if.
The rest of the switches/routers/WAP Controller is located in my home office closet inside of one of those on-Q boxes in the wall.
Modern family.
It’s just funny enough to be entertaining and has some loose plot that’s fine to follow. Easily forgettable, but great for throwing on. Also, it’s cool to watch the kids on that show grow up over its 10 year run.

Parks and rec
Are others I would toss on for easy to watch. Although community and P&R hide a TON of jokes that make it even funnier if you pay attention.

19·8 months agoThere’s a great video from WSJ with their exec team that talks about how those notifications are hugely beneficial both to their users, and to their revenue. Even if you pay for the full thing like I do you still get those notifications. They aren’t “desperate” they’re targeted specifically to get people to come back and keep learning. They also don’t care about showing you ads as much since their majority of money comes from paying users. If anything the ads are to just get you to pay for the app.
I don’t disagree with some of your points, but I also don’t believe that Reddit really ever said it was a free speech platform. Twitter has for sure (because of Elon), but Reddit has really been a “front page of the internet” believer. They felt more like an aggregator and newspaper. Which definitely has a lot of censoring and opinion blocking in the world of print too. I mean, remember when they got rid of jailbait or space dicks, was that a speech problem? Some felt it was, but it was definitely something we all realized was wrong and that a private company tries to protect its “brand.” Obviously being on Lemmy and leaving after the API change means I didn’t agree with them and I found another place that aligned more with my values.
You holding that sign up though is legal, however only on public property, and only if you’re taking up less than half of the sidewalk and not in the path of traffic. You also cannot use an amplified device (unless you’ve filled out the permit) and your sign cannot be on any wood or metal sticks. If you step onto private property you can be asked to leave or removed. That last one is also something that just like a website isn’t restricting your right to free speech, just that a specific building/business/owner doesn’t want to be in support of it.
In the end, why are we all still talking about Reddit. This site definitely has users that love going back to their crazy ex to fuck and then realizing it’s still crazy like as if it would change.
Definitely agree with you on that.
If we’re talking about the Unpopular opinion subreddit (what the image is from). They also had President, presidency, Trump, and spez. They’re just big things that end up with a lot of garbage. A sub about unpopular opinions filled with the same “Donald Trump bad” becomes boring and annoying.
If we’re talking about the Lemmy Shitpost community then they specifically call out no derogatory language towards anyone’s Race, gender, or religion. Is that trampling your civil liberties?
Your rights as a person and citizen don’t magically extend everywhere. Otherwise you turn into a sovereign citizen. This weird obsession on Lemmy with this idea you should be able to say whatever you want online anywhere is fucking stupid and weird. A website is like another business or home (or even a newspaper… which at times has also pulled ideas they don’t agree with). You’re showing up to it. If you don’t like the rules in one place, go to another (or read a different paper). Or make your own.
Also, I love the irony of me making an unpopular opinion comment on a post about unpopular opinion.
Is this really so bad? I mean… I get it. When you’re trying to moderate something with thousands of posts, and a ton start coming in that are low effort/bot posts saying things like “unpopular opinion: I support Luigi” or “unpopular opinion: I am glad Biden won’t be president” it makes sense. Those are just such constant topics with such a wide range of ideals. Whereas an unpopular opinion they might want to spur conversation would be “unpopular opinion: I don’t mind my socks being damp or wet” otherwise it’s just constant shitposts.
Plus, Reddit isn’t the (US) government. Your expectation of free speech should be null.
This is the ideal dog body Hollywood is pushing on us.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you use an SUV to tow a small RV? What combo has worked the best for you, and how did you overcome the challenges of cargo capacity?English
5·1 year agoYou cannot upgrade your towing/payload beyond what is stated on the sticker. That’s a legal mandate and if you’re pulled over and checked you will be cited.
Engine displacement doesn’t have a lot to do with towing. Coolers, braking, frame, and electrical control systems all play a factor as do your suspension (axel, shocks, springs and any control arms/trailing arms) and steering systems.
The 4Runner is an old platform, but it’s important to remember that Toyota probably didn’t want to equip it and rate it beyond the current payload due to people being able to step up to a Tacoma which is largely the same but made for towing and hauling more than a 4Runner. Even though the Tacoma also isn’t the best at towing and payload.

Happy to help! If you ever want to be irrationally angry at either the worlds dumbest engineer, or finance people somehow having a say in design; go look up oil changes on Ram trucks. They’re hilariously awful. Filters are placed facing down over things like steering gear boxes or right over the front differential. So it just gets over everything. In the case of the 2500 you have to go through the front bumper on the power wagons to get the oil filter out.
But their trans are solid. It’s also the only good part in Rams, BMWs and Audi. A real miracle.
