Mostly 1080p h264. Lately, due to free space running out, I have started prioritizing and redownloading accordingly. Low bitrate h265 1080p for less important stuff, 4K h265 for important things and normal bitrate h264/265 (preferably the latter) 1080p for everything else.

You are approaching this from the perspective of a rational peaceful person from the west, where usually the economy is number one in everything.

Xi has achieved unrivaled rule over the party. He has successfully established a police state that ensures that any domestic dissent is immediately crushed with brutal efficiency. He has subjugated the provinces that dared to think about self rule and cultural differences, and is in the process of ethnic cleansing without any significant opposition or consequences. He has gained colonial influence all over Africa through economic means. He has taken over Hong Kong. He has significantly modernized and expanded the military, including nuclear weapons. He had made China into a global economic superpower, which other countries, including rivals, depend on for a significant amount of manufactured goods and resources.

So what is left for him? Surely he is not a man who can be content with what he has.

The obvious next step is to make China into a military superpower. For that you need to exert power abroad. What better place to begin with than that small island just off your coast that has been a challenge to Chinese supremacy for decades?

Of course, Taiwan is kind of protected by the US, the dominant superpower of the time. But they are struggling, looking weak. If China manages to take Taiwan, they will not only have removed that thorn in their side, they will also have punched the biggest, meanest kid on the block on the nose and gotten away with it.

Calling Al Jazeera „independent“ is quite a stretch. They are funded by Qatar, a authoritarian monarchy based on sharia law, where homosexuality is punishable by death, women’s testimony is worth half of that of men and they have fun punishments such as stoning and flogging.

That doesn’t mean YouTube is not suppressing media. In fact, in my experience the algorithm heavily favors right wing propaganda and has done so for years.

So maybe Al Jazeera has fallen out of favor. Or maybe they have themselves inflated their numbers previously with a method that no longer works, or they are just focusing their propaganda efforts on other, stupider platforms, like TikTok.

You are right, that’s a problem. Can’t throw out precious cargo.

Depends on where you live. In Germany the government will of course take care of the burial of no one else does it, but parents or children are responsible for whatever burial cost is left after using the estate, even if they refused the inheritance.

What was that study course and what made it hell? Might want to a avoid a similar situation in the future.

What exactly seems out of reach and impossible? If you had something specific in mind but gave it up, it might be a good way forward to consider something similar with less (or more manageable) obstacles.

Have you considered job perspectives abroad? It might be even harder to get a good picture of the situation abroad, but there could be chances there.

What are your passions or things you like? Languages, obviously, and that is great because that gives you a much greater area to look for jobs (if you want to maybe go abroad).

I am running plex server on a low power i3-7xxx. thanks to the igpu that thing can handle a few 1080p transcodes at once. Even 4K HDR transcoding is possible, though I never get more than one or two of them at the same time. Unless you need it to encode subtitles into the video or you have many simultaneous HDR to SDR conversions going at once any cheap old PC with an intel 7th gen or newer and igpu should do well. Oh, and I don’t think they can handle AV1, but that is still very uncommon.

As a 40 year old male I find that character becomes a bigger factor, even if it sounds cheesy. Sure, a hot but bland 20 something can be attractive and that will not change, but I would rather spend my time with an interesting 60 year old. Maybe it is because I am no Adonis either. But I also like to believe that a DiCaprio type situation would make me deadly afraid of taking advantage of someone at a much different stage of life.

I would also theorize that as it becomes more difficult to guess the age by looks alone character becomes a more important differentiator. Of course some signs of age can not be hidden, but there are plenty of 18 year olds dressing much older as well as lots of older women not giving off grandma vibes.

The community built Android versions managed to fix most bugs, and even made dual touch possible, but then again could only do so much without all sources. And usually they were not the most stable either.

On the one hand having a smartphone with touchscreen, apps etc. was amazing. On the other hand Samsungs bullshit meant I wasted a lot of time chasing a properly working software for my phone that it should have had from the beginning.
