Please adopt. None of us are individually all that special, you don’t need to see your bloodline continue. The interests of DNA are not our interests. If having your own DNA reproduced is more important to you than raising a child who needs a parent, you probably shouldn’t be a parent at all.

If you are a corporation staking thousands or millions of dollars on some code, you hire someone to audit it. If you are a dude playing with apps on your phone, you accept the risk of ingorance.

Veganism isn’t about sustainability. Plant-based diets are less harmful to the environment but eating a plant-based diet because you care about climate change has nothing to do with veganism.

Veganism is a moral philosophy on the treatment of animals. Animals are individuals. Individuals must only be treated as ends, never as means. The experiences of animals are real and matter. Their suffering is identical in nature to your own. It harms us when we take pleasure in cruelty and violence. The animals we create are owed the exact same unconditional love and protection as our own children.

People don’t realize how often they bring up their carnism because it’s an unexamined belief. But vegans notice.

I think it’s based on a discredited view of addiction; I think the intentions are less about reducing human suffering than social engineering.

One of those things is not like the others.

When I was upset about what I saw all around me, I was told that animals don’t suffer like we do. They aren’t conscious like we are. I knew better, but when everyone is acting as if something is true, you can kind of get drawn up in it, and I guess I believed it for a while. It was a helpful belief to have.
