My parents both openly smoked weed in front of my from a young age. For example: this weekend I was playing Blops 3 and googled shit like “Winslow accord bo3” and after 1-3 searches I could just type shit related to bo3 and even if it had relevant pages related to other shit, it’d remember my recent searches and keep them rather relevant even if it was on my phone or a new window rather than the same search bar

At least, it used to work that way. Now every 4-5 searches it suddenly forgets what tangent I was on and I have to start adding qualifiers again to get relevant searches

One time I was playing modded Skyrim when it froze/crashed at the loading screen

So I summon task manager, it hides behind the frozen game. I alt+tab and start blind keying to Skyrim to end it, been here hundreds of times, but nothing happens and the Skyrim world music STARTS???!!!

ALT+TAB to see TM and Skyrim both reporting non-responsive. Tab to Skyrim and press w, clearly hear character moving and reacting to my input

Try again to end process via ALT+F4, No dice. Try via TM, still unresponsive

Funny enough here in the rural parts of CA I’ve seen Raleys and Holiday Markets putting in large community areas with amenities like cheap (sometimes free) printers, office space, children’s areas, etc.

They’re not perfect or anything but its wild to see capitalist behemoths pull off something actually close to what the ideal would be, even if it’s likely to manipulate people somehow

Make it law that communities with a dollar general or fuck it any grocery store we all have to eat have a community center of halfway decent quality in it like those places have done willingly and you’ll have an improvement, guaranteed

I carefully got what I expected my party to get through for their first few sessions as maps into Roll20, fog of war so that they can only see what they’d reasonably have seen so far themselves, mood music set to play when going to the appropriate screens, snacks, and a big ass black cloak and evil laugh. Really went all out with it.

The people I first did it for ghosted me and when I went by their house later that night (parents lived down the street) everyone’s cars were there

I recall reading somewhere that less than 5 years is the average time it takes for most individual works to earn the majority of its value, tapering off from there

So I’d probably do a 2-tier system:

Tier 1: independent civilians. After 5 years any normal civvie can take your work and use it without your permission to do whatever they want with it

Tier 2: Companies. Life of the author. For as long as the original creator is alive no company can ever use their work without permission

I agree with everything else you said, but not this. I’ve seen multiple people write out different mild rewrites of areas and bits of the story to make it more interesting, and it wouldn’t have been much more work to flesh out the MSQ into more than just “go here talk to person” to the extreme it was. It didn’t have to be a slog

Hell, had they just picked between the two completely different stories in this expansion (hi Stormblood critique from 2017) and kept with that for the whole epac they could have produced something far less of a slog at least, and actually really GREAT at best (just look at the content design after all)
