fort_burp@feddit.nlto Uplifting News@lemmy.world•Poll: Capitalism is out … and socialism is inEnglish6·12 days agoAw man, just when not supporting Capitalism became illegal :/

Capitalism has always needed lots of support from the government in order to work (and I think we hurt Capitalism’s feelings).
fort_burp@feddit.nlto Uplifting News@lemmy.world•Poll: Capitalism is out … and socialism is inEnglish3·12 days agoIt’s important to remember that the New Deal was a compromise between the Capitalists and the Labor Unions / Communists. There has to be a far left threat to Capital for the status quo to move to the left at all. That has been absent in the USA for decades (like you said, starting around Nixon time) which partially explains how far right the USA has moved with decline in labor’s share of profits, increasing wealth inequality and now all the way to fascist violence.
You will never get a president that just enacts sane social policies without a strong left, and that means organizing and Labor Unions.

fort_burp@feddit.nlOPto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Do not support political violence† online!58·1 month agoIt’s fucked up, it’s literally a doxxing website for stochastic terrorism. Someone else put it well:
Rolling Stone explains the hypocrisy.
And there’s a long tradition of right wing extremists using the state (as well as non-state actors like the KKK, Three Percenters, etc.) to silence any criticism or even recognition of their heinous actions.
But yea, you’re not supposed to see through it immediately, as you did lmao
fort_burp@feddit.nlOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you think this is true about socialism?2·1 month agoYes, wasn’t it studied that psychopathy is the #1 trait to get to the top in a capitalist setting?
fort_burp@feddit.nlOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you think this is true about socialism?2·1 month agoAren’t you describing a coop?
One of the aspects of socialism is that production is undertaken to fulfill a social need, not to generate profit. But yes, I think you can have markets under a socialist system of production… but I’m no expert.
fort_burp@feddit.nlOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you think this is true about socialism?1·1 month agoFree education and universal healthcare are not socialist in themselves.
Sure they are: production is undertaken to fulfill a social need.
fort_burp@feddit.nlOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you think this is true about socialism?2·1 month agoThat’s right, “socialism for the rich, rugged individualism for the poor.” as MLK Jr. said.
fort_burp@feddit.nlOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you think this is true about socialism?1·1 month agoGood point. So why do we have wage slavery instead of everyone being involved in coops?
