So out of the loop. Is the US starting a civil war in Minis City?
On deathbead, poor as a rock: at least I didn’t slack off and was of value to the economy!

7·11 days agoIf they stopped calling themselves “Americans”, it’d be fine, but they call themselves as if they owned 2 continents (and they behave that way too). A renaming would be very much in order. Liberteria, The States, Trumpia, Costa to Costa, Burgerland, whatever.
Ah, you ran into neckbeards. This is a typical interaction with them. They are afraid because they are finally in a position of power digitally whereas in real life, nobody cares about them. Honestly, ask LLMs https://chat.mistral.ai/ or something else.
I have Linux but am a casual user and my experience with Linux users has been nothing short of terrible. Before LLMs, I had to either find the answer on some *overflow website, the ubuntu forums, or just give up and move on. Now, LLMs help me out more than humans ever did. LLMs don’t tell you you’re stupid, they don’t ridicule your question, they don’t ridicule you. Of course they can be dangerous if they give you bad commands, but so can humans.
If you must talk to humans online to get help, what I’ve seen work is to tell them they are wrong and that your solution works 100%. Some neckbeard will show up, call you stupid, and give the solution. And if that doesn’t work, just ridicule them and say it didn’t work, which means your solution is the right one. It’ll make them try to prove you wrong even harder 🤷

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Considering the fact that a lot of the Reddit mods are also Lemmy mods, what would be the mechanism to remove abusive mods here?
4·14 days agoThe big brain simplistic view of “every X is Y”. Every mod is a dick. Every linux user is intelligent. Every windows user is stupid. Every Indian smells. Every African is poor. My logic is always sound.

Anything that puts a layer between your skin and the sun and car exhaust, probably more helpful than harmful.
That definitely isn’t true. Acid puts a layer between you and the sun and isn’t good for your skin. There are creams that dry your skin leading to cracks and death of certain healthy bacteria on your skin. The cracks can expose your body to fungi and dangerous bacteria. Things like mixing suncream and anti-mosquito spray can lead to serious rashes and skin irritation. Creams can also have a low SPF and damaging effects to the skin, giving you a false sense of security while destroying your skin even more.
I’m convinced that make up has chemicals in them that deteriorate the skin more quickly when used. IMO, make up should be worn only on occasion, not daily. If it were worn only on occasion, the wow effect would be larger and the skin would recover to age more naturally.
As much as necessary to make the story move forward. If something specific that happened in bed is necessary to further the story, show it. I’d much rather see nudity than someone’s brains getting blown out. Nudity and sex can be added in a way that makes movies or TV series worth less without it - they can actually add value to the movie/series.
There’s porn out there just jumps right into the fucking and there’s porn that tries to build a story yet the acting is downright awful. A good thing in the middle could be amazing, but most of the time, the needle isn’t threaded or threaded badly.
How can anybody look at that and say it’s a blight on the landscape? These are the types of pictures one would expect from futurism communities. Nary pollution in sight! Simply spectacular.
Oh, sorry. I hope I didn’t spoil it for you. Let me add tags.
spoilers ahead
I really thought it was going to explore more of the connection, show what humans are able to do with all the knowledge shared across billions, maybe have a main character that’s cynical but not just wanting for things to go back to the way they were for no good reason and just hating everyone and everything - except it they have long legs and are their sexual fantasy.
Imagine starting to research the construction of a spaceship and then suddenly connecting with an unexpected other species on earth e.g mice, pigs, dolphins, whales, etc. and having to figure out what to do then. The virus obviously infected mice and they were intelligent enough to infect humans. The way they “accelerated their plan” after being discovered and suddenly the entire world simultaneously gets turned also just didn’t make sense. They could’ve even explored that aspect a little but it was just a deux ex machina. Her wife/girlfriend/whatever dying was also unnecessary for the plot. The protagonist was already hating everybody. The wife’s survival wouldn’t have changed anything in that regard. Instead we got to watch her scream, moan, and whine for 3 or so episodes. I clocked out once the dude started his trek.
IMO, they could’ve done so much more.
I’m not a fan of Pluribus, and it’s not just being contrarian. A friend told me about it at a dinner party and the concept seemed interesting. Forced myself to watch it due to their recommendation and, to me, it was a waste of time.
Pluribus, One Piece, Star Trek, Star Wars, Half Life, …

What’s the point of a civil war? To try and “weed out” the non-believers?
