They’re not fresh. The fairy demands the freshest teeth but long ago ancient humans made a pact with the tooth fairy. In exchange for humanity to cease its hunt of the tooth fairy, the TF will stop hunting children in their sleep to pursue the freshest and most desirable teeth. Centuries later, with the advent of capitalism, the humans rebelled and demanded compensation for the teeth to be given to the children. The TF, seeing the advancement of human warfare capacity quickly agreed to a small stipend per child in order to continue its harvesting.

They don’t want you to know about the dish gnomes forced to work in tight spaces under terrible conditions.
assembly@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you ever been to Burning Man or a similar festival type event? Any cool stories?14·2 months agoUses to go to Mountain Jam at Hunter Mountain in NY almost every year. It’s still a smaller event than the big ones and I think it makes a huge difference. It’s amazing but I haven’t been since before the pandemic. Camping with a couple thousand of your closest friends that you’ve never met while live music plays all day and night is incredible. Just migrating between campsites and sitting down for beers with everyone while they do the same with your campsite is a lesson to humanity.

(serious)12·9 months agoAt this point, the DNC could be giving out guns and Republicans would call it a trap that they are only giving a single high capacity magazine. Honestly, after everything that has been known about Project 2025, Trump, Lindsay Graham, and everyone on the right, I don’t think there is anything that could ever change their vote.

I don’t see those cheap plastic pieces as keeping the prongs from accidentally warping or bending but I guess they could keep moisture away. I’ve never received a corroded set of prongs before their use though so my theory stands as they are upping the packaging visual aesthetics.

No one knows where the water comes from but i assume it’s free.

How much of that traffic can be re-routed to satellite?18·11 months agoYou have to remember that the cloud is just a series of data centers owned by cloud providers. If you are Netflix, you’re not hosting Stranger Things for audiences in the US from the EU. You have a copy of it in both places and leverage AWS regions in each area to server geographically closer users (it’s typically called latency based routing). If the undersea cables are cut, the EU still watches Netflix because the content doesn’t need to travel undersea, it’s already in the EU, same thing in the US. The challenge comes in at the end of the month when people pay their Netflix bills and the banks needs to process international payments. End users are largely not impacted by direct service outages but big companies are.
Similar but I scan mine for reimbursement as the majority of times I am buying stuff while outside the house it is a business expense. This statement makes me realize I need to leave the house more often for non work purposes.

Alternatively, if she cracks cold fusion. Have to give her some options to make it more realistic. Solve two-of-three problems type of thing.
assembly@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How could the US solve local public transport in their huge suburban neighbourhoods?7·1 year agoWe have interurban trails here that connect suburbs to downtown and with the proliferation of e-bikes, there are so many people traveling that way now. I’m a little too far away to be connected to it but my hope is that the approach expands.

assembly@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What do you think will happen if we don't pass the aid for Ukraine?22·1 year agoThat is true but at the same time, a line has to be drawn somewhere. If we just let Russia win because they have nukes, there is nothing to stop them from invading and absorbing other neighbors. We can’t let the threat of nukes keep us from doing anything and allowing for Russia and China to just invade anywhere they want.
I think it was a 1998-ish Pontiac Grand Prix. I dated two different women that drove that car and so I had to ride around in them and sometimes drive them. Both were just a train wreck of problems. They shook violently sitting at a red light, the brakes always seemed to be failing, and everything that could break was falling off the cars. It’s weird that two women I dated owned the same car but more so that they both had the same problems.
I’ve used a duress password with crypto containers since the old TrueCrypt introduced me to it a while back. Sure you can have the password and unlock the vault but it’s just text file notes in there that aren’t at all important. In reality though, no one would ever give a shit about my data enough to even ask me my password.
Man they really jumped the shark at number 4. I mean you had to suspend rational belief across all of them but that’s just movie magic. Number 4 took it too far.
Damn that’s a good idea. Going to write that down, put it in the to do list, and regret not dosing it.
Sorry to hear this is happening to you. I went through something similar as I graduated with a CS degree in the middle of the dotcom burst. I ended up having to move from NY to AZ (USA) to find a job. It was terrible and I have so much sympathy to anyone going through that now. Wish I had a solution for you, I really do. I sent out crazy amounts of resumes and applications. About the only thing I can think of is to keep applying.
