    1. This one has been around.

Lemmy is the spirit of the UBB board continued, many of us are the remnants of the old web, just following the endless chain to whatever the next big exodus will be, seeing how many come with us, and the names that fade with each hop.

I have treated Lemmy differently. I was pseudo anonymous on Reddit. I treat Lemmy the same way I treat a darkweb overlay network. (no this isn’t my first account)

This has more to do with the times than community trust, but I’ve been an anon for a while before too, it’s nothing new.

  • Apart from “increased security”, what is actually the point of these releases?

That is the point. The desktop landscape… aside from maybe KDE, changes very little over time. It’s more that new software is created to try out, while old software would rather retain their current userbase and not be tarred and feathered over sweeping changes.

    in the background, though

The kernel is constantly adapting and updating to changes in the cybersecurity threat landscape, and shit is happening, all the time, relentlessly, forever.

  • I recognize the concepts of feminine and masculine and the blends of both, but I suppose that just doesn’t tell me a lot about who you are, how you are, what your interests are or your life.

I could ponder stereotypes, get an idea for who you are based on telling me you’re trans, but listen to how that sounds.

Would you want me to have an idea about you from one word, without even knowing you?

  • I don’t see you as less of a person, I don’t see you as a bother, I don’t see you as challenging to my views or, a shock at all, really.

I guess the cold hard truth is that I just don’t care.

If you wear your gender as your first, most outstanding personality trait, it doesn’t speak much for the rest of you.

Do I care if you keep it up, don’t stop and tell everyone you know? Have at it.

It’s just not my business. It’s not important in the grand scheme of whether or not you’re an asshole. Your shoe size is more indicative of who you are, to me, anyway.

  • I’m a mechanic.

This is both my reason and explanation lol.

I do my own work has been said to be taken a bit too literally in my case. I got ripped off by Geek Squad when I was 18 and said “wow, it’s just like getting ripped off at a shitty mechanic shop” and ever since then it’s been all hands-on.

    career

I sat on that fence but being a mechanic gives me guaranteed work and I basically work-out every day. It’s hard, but not brutal and the pay is decent. Surrounded by maga tho.

  • My Setup:

OpenWRT Router: wireguard server, backup DNS

NAS: Main DNS Server - pihole, no wireguard

    VPS: Client - Endpoint 10.1.99.0/24, 192.168.2.0/24

    Phone: Client - Endpoint 0.0.0.0/0, ::/0

10.1.99.0 clients can talk to 192.168.2.0 clients and back and forth. The NAS can talk to anyone, anyone can talk to the NAS. Any new client can talk to anything.

They all use the NAS for DNS, so they all resolve hostnames and domain names.

why not dns on the router?

I didn’t like the unbound/adblock gui on Openwrt. I like pihole more. Personal pref.
