fully aware! just don’t care much since its so cheap ($270 for 20 TB!) and my last externals (two 10 TBs) served without issue for ~5 years. Just gotta make sure you have backups and upgrade every few years.

I’ve been running my server on an old laptop and a 20TB external hard drive connected via USB. it’s not fast, there’s a multi-second delay when the drive goes to “sleep” if nobody has used jellyfin in a while, which makes it appear to not work, but once it spins up it works like normal. this has let me keep things simple and cheap. I back up to another 20TB hard drive, which I recently bought as I could finally afford it. beefy hardware is great but not necessary, if you’re okay with some limits.

So I upgraded and tested not adding a trusted proxy (using Traefik in front of Jellyfin) and nothing broke. Was it supposed to break or is it just that its insecure? Am I less secure by not adding it as a trusted proxy?

still really early in development but if you primarily work from the browser on a desktop/laptop, it works well enough. I’ve struggled with getting sheets working on a mobile browser but I really like that you could completely self host if you want or just pay them to do it for you.

Checkout Notesnook. I’ve tried most of the ones you’ve listed and have been really enjoying how well it works compared to the competition considering its end-to-end encrypted.

A few features:

• Clients and server are open source.
• End-to-end encrypted note syncing.
• You can publish public notes.
• You can publish privates notes that require a password to view.
• You can self-host the sync server.
• You can self-host the publishing server.
• Full offline mode.
• At rest encryption.
• Multi-platform clients with feature parity (Android, iOS, Linux, Windows, MacOS, Web).
• Most if not all of the general features you’d expect from a notes taking application.

One thing I really like about the project is how open they are about what they’re doing, why they’re doing it and what the future holds. It’s been great seeing their roadmap (https://notesnook.com/roadmap/) and seeing promised features land with new ones being added, and I’ve only been using it for less than a year now!

Happens more than we’d like to believe. The mans dad wasn’t actually even dead in the case linked below. The policy will continue to make these mistakes until the consequences of their failures comes directly out of their pay.

I’ll be honest, not a lot of pros to using Firefox if you don’t care about using the best adblocker (uBlock origin). That said, if you haven’t tried it recently, you should give it a shot. I would recommend installing uBlock Origin and Dark Reader (if you like your pages dark) for the best experience.

It’s not as fast as Chrome (not noticeable on newer devices) but I personally disagree with giving Google so much power over the web, so I’m ideologically opposed to using anything based on Chromium or not open source, so my options are limited.

Okay, I’m exaggerating for effect. That said, I’m not saying it isn’t gruesome. I’m saying the “sacrifice” pales in comparison to everyday horrors that happen to real people who aren’t promised eternal bliss for the loss of a single weekend. Just look at what the cartels post online, much worse options.
