My guess would be that it was a Brazilian Wandering Spider (the spider famous for giving painful long lasting erections).
If that was the case there would have been a pretty obvious clue, no? lol
(not doubting you, just making a silly joke)

Yeah, but those people don’t get defensive when you comment on it, while those who are raising the red flag immediately do. It’s pretty easy to tell them apart from that point forward.
Spicy chai with a touch of vanilla flavoured oat milk, I have 2 cups a day at least.
I used to mostly drink regular tea, and also enjoy earl grey, and especially if I’m not feeling well and want to avoid caffeine - jasmine (probably my favourite non-tea tea), chamomile, mint, and a few others, but the chai has beaten all others and become my staple.
Ooof, TIL…
The system is what it does, and what it does is decay in to fascism.
This.
One of the best ways to confront a bigot is by pretending to be completely naive of their intentions, and getting them to dig their own hole by repeatedly asking them to explain what they mean.
They forgot they are civil servants and are being trained on a warrior mentality.
No, you’ve forgotten that the police are the armed defenders of capital and the state, and they do not exist to serve you, never have, never will. And that this is valid for every state, not just the united ones of America (of course gun culture and generally being ahead in the race towards fascism makes America worse than many, I’m not denying that, my point is that the police as a concept exist to supress and oppress civilians in defence of capital and the state).
Mostpolice forces in the US wereinfiltratedcreated by fascist white supremacists long ago.
Not trying to be pedantic, I just think it’s really important to remember that that’s what the police have always been for.
I think that stuff (those in power manipulating public opinion for their own ends by whatever means necessary) has always happened, but the access to and use of technology has definitely upped the game significantly, so yeah, I agree.
Edit to add: I watched it for the first time in my teens, and I think it had a deep impact on how I view politics and the media, and the relationship between them.
One I’ve not seen mentioned yet: Wag the Dog (1997)
When I was a kid my parents wanted to open up an existing cavity under our house to build a basement, and that never happened because it (E: was discovered during the building inspection that it) was full of Radon. I guess I’m desensitised (but possibly slowly decaying a little faster than I should be…).
True (E: actually not quite, he was born a little after plastic was invented), and he loved laminating shit lol though he was more in to metal work. But later in life he really got in to computers, which is why I think 3D printing would have been right up his ally, because he could use the computer to make things he might no longer have been able to with his hands, and then get to play around with all of his creations (and gift us grandkids an endless supply of things lol)…
I wish my grandad had made it long enough to have had a 3D printer, he would have absolutely loved it (he died in his 90’s, so he did alright).
This is incorrect. Not only did humans used to work significantly less and we (the working class, anyway) in the past few centuries have less leisure time than ever, but if anything, the introduction of what you consider “civilisation”, and especially class and money, harmed art more than anything by giving the power and control over it to those who aren’t creating it, and leaving those who are, starving, like the rest of the plebs, or completely undiscovered due to lack of privilege, opportunity, and access.
They can find another line, or skip trying to be funny altogether if the only way they can think of is gendered and they can’t be arsed to check the gender of the person they’re talking to.
And lets be honest - it wasn’t that good a joke.
Either way, it really isn’t fucking difficult, and is definitely easier than whatever the fuck this mess is.
Your app would ideally just respect display names and it would require no extra effort on your part to gender people correctly.
Even if pronouns aren’t displayed, it takes even less effort to use neutral pronouns for everyone unless you know otherwise.
That’s not an excuse nor justification for misgendering anyone, neutral pronouns exist, use them.
I got bit by my cat once and had to go to urgent care because my hand started swelling up pretty rapidly, and I got some pretty heavy antibiotics, but I think that’s probably it. Had a dog bite too, but that didn’t go deep enough to cause issue (it’s a teeth thing - thin and pointy cat teeth vs wider and more dull dog teeth).
