Is this one of those “believe someone because of their gender regardless of the evidence” arguments? That kind of thinking is dangerous and sexist.

Of course they have benefits. Depending on the situation of course. I wouldn’t put one in my computer, but I sure as shit have one in my home with a kid running around. Turns out a fan with all the heavy spinning hardware stuff in it’s base is less likely to fall over than one with all that stuff up on top. Honestly all my Dyson stuff work fucking great for their intended purpose.
Paying the absolute minimal amount for something isn’t necessary the goal of life. You’re not a corporation.

12·26 days agoYou could probably try to talk about your favourite anime, or Sonic the hedgehog. I’m sure you’ll find you have lots in common!
Being sexually attracted to animals is not normal and often associated with other mental illnesses. There is help available.
Nope. You’ll just create more Disney/Pokemon adult. We don’t need that.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Remember what happened when you changed the orientation of the pen?
11·29 days agoFuck yeah I had forgotten about these. I had one in elementary school.
No one HAS to tip. Also the meal is priced at what the business believes the customer will pay.
Stop being little bitches and unionise. Tip is not pay.
Wouldn’t surprise me in the least if corporations are releasing AI agents with vague instructions to improve their reputation/share value into the wild.
Calling tankies “the left” is weird. They’re just red fascists.
Shared happiness is double happiness. My son would love this.
I wish antinatalists the help that they need.
It’s important to remember that teachers are on average less educated that the average citizen. My high school biology teacher told us boys with restless legs were just masturbating their anus in class…
After having worked IT in several schools over the last 20 years (both high schools and universities), I can honestly say that teachers are the most misinformed and least knowledgeable professionals I’ve ever worked with. Only principals are worse, and most I’ve met could probably be classified as mentally disabled.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Should hate speech be protected under freedom of speech laws?
91·2 months agoHate speech laws are fascist. As in, they are laws that differentiate between people. Some are protected but not beholden, while others are beholden but not protected. These laws are already used to protect cultist child abusers from criticism.

Photography. I bought a second hand camera body, a couple of adapters and have been building up a roster of cheap old 70s-80s lenses. I can bring my camera whenever I go out, or go on more specific photography walks. It makes me look at things more closely, and therefore enjoy them more.
Whenever I’ve brought my camera to events and gatherings, the response has been very positive and people really enjoy the photos being “artistic” and “dream-like” (on account of the imperfect vintage lenses and my often poor manual focusing).
It’s been a fun journey of discovering what lenses I most enjoy using. For me it’s been either 40-45mm for walking around snapshots or 180-200mm for portraiture.
Maybe I’ll get some more modern gear some day, but then I’ll know exactly what I want, and have the skill to use it to the fullest.
