  • Not all jobs are equal: not in pay, not in proximity to the people who actually carry out the orders of Leadership, not in consequences, not in collaboration with others.

For example, Biden has the authority to stop the transfer of arms to Israel, even after Congress has approved of it. That decision would have much greater impacts on Israel’s ability to carry out their genocide on the Palestinian people.

A McDonald’s manager has no say in weather those arms make it to Israel or not.

Different positions call for different levels of ethical consideration. Maybe the United Healthcare CEO should have considered ethics and morals more when he decided to prioritize profit over human lives.

Consequently, you could also make the same diagnosis for Biden because this whole Israel thing is nuking his legacy.

  • The great Reddit migration when 3rd party devs realized how much Reddit would charge them to use Reddit’s API in order to serve information to their apps. RiF was my shit.

I love Lemmy now though. Its federated nature, while abnormal and at times not the easiest to explain, has me hopeful for the cyberspace future that isn’t fully dictated by corporations. Using Fdroid, getting over the hump from Chrome to Firefox, and now the prospects of switching entire OSs from Windows to Linux are within my visibility now, when before I was comfortable in my corporate bubble.

Think the next thing I need to start taking strides on after Linux is privacy. I still keep my passwords locked under OneDrive Vault and a password protected OneNote. Should probably dump that and move over to keypass or some other password manager. I just don’t want to have to pay for a service right now on a recurring basis unless I choose to to support the devs.

  • Do you really think Harris’ platform was all that liberal?

Did you listen to her DNC speech, where she insisted on having the strongest military in America’s history, not mentioning Palestinians plight in Gaza and the West Bank, and promising to have a Republican in her cabinet?

Harris actively chased after the right and their voting base right up to election day. Democrats did nothing to counter Trump. If they had, they would have actually followed through on the Tim Walz pick and promulgated actual, progressive policies to win over the self-interest of their base.

Harris using a stick to get her base to vote was not enough. People need carrots. Her campaign was utter shit man.
