Stand up first

If a dog is jumping up on you then you should put your knee up and they’ll stop. It’s a good way to train dogs not to jump up on people.

I wouldn’t equate installing proxmox on an old pc to open heart surgery. It’s pretty basic stuff and you can follow guides on how to install services in a container or vm. People are interested in things like pihole, home assistant, arr stacks, nas, and better control over their network. It’s definitely not rocket surgery.
You could use a math trade software. Instead of putting in items just have everyone select each other’s names. Or you could just do a math trade where everyone enters an item and then everything gets randomly traded somewhat like a white elephant but anonymized.

I think Indiana is solidly Midwest but on Eastern time

Had my post removed for “off topic” in self hosting because it was about open wrt and they claimed it was a hardware question when in fact open wrt is software.

That first goomba in world 1-1

There’s no reason to use leaded fuel. Lead was just used as an octane booster. People say that it helps lubricate the valves or whatever, but it’s a myth. You might eventually have issues if you run e10 fuel because that stuff isn’t good for fuel systems in the first place.
They’re built so that they can’t easily be repaired cheaply so that you have to buy a new one. The dealership makes all their money off of predatory financing. They pay mechanics on “flat rate” so there’s a gross incentive to recommend work that isn’t necessary. Then there’s the insurance industry. Then of course police use minor driving infractions to hassle people and generate revenue. The whole industry could just not exist and the world would be better for it. People spend half their salary just to have a car, it’s ridiculous.

It depends. I mod !dull_mens_club@lemmy.world and don’t feel like I should try to steer the community in any way. I want it to grow it’s own culture naturally. I’m just there to tend the garden, but I rarely have to take any actions due to the nature of the community.
After working on them professionally I stopped liking them. I don’t even really like driving anymore. Everything about a car is a scam.

You might try Nizoral shampoo if you can find it. Leave it in for five minutes.

I own dullsters.net and i have been trying to clean out junk from previously abandoned projects and working on others. It has become a project in itself. There’s no shortage of 3d printers, computers, tools, and other things around here. I’m always doing some kind of diy. A lot of times out of necessity as things lately have been breaking more than usual. I’m also on a high level committee for an organization with the goal of growing an e-sports scene to help veterans. It just feels really weird to do cool and interesting things at home and have an easy entry level job that isn’t fulfilling and not seen as capable of anything more.

Quit within a few years, unfortunately not. I really can’t see a path forward anymore.

I run an older sff office PC with ryzen 3400g. I don’t have any issues running whatever I want on it. I don’t play AAA games or fps so it’s fine.
I actually hate Chicago suburbs because of the regressive property tax in Illinois. All schools are funded by local property taxes. That means that people in lower wage areas have to pay a much higher percentage of their income in taxes overall. It also means that rich suburbs get well funded schools while avoiding their own fair share. Illinois also has a regressive flat income tax, also benefiting rich people.
