Yes, but as much as we all like the Brutalism style, would the cost difference really not be worth it for Art Deco or anything a bit more psychologically welcoming or uplifting combined with generous green spacing and walkability.
Every time I notice I cannot use my full refresh rate over the HDMI on my 7900xtx in Linux because of licencing issues, I get rationally pissed off.

2·2 months agoGod, I almost trauma blocked the driver situation for that first year or three. My q6600 and 8gb of ram ran like greased lightning, and disabling Aero made it even more responsive than 98SE or XP. (I am a latency and user experience fluidity whore though, so sacrificing eye candy for performance was and still is A-OK with me). The Aero design language was still killer even with the bells and whistles turned off.
The main reason to jump from XP (or 98) was the 64 bit jump and breaking the 4gh ram limit. XP x64 was kinda hot garbage, also due to driver issues if I recall correctly.

10·2 months agoVista honestly wasn’t as bad as we all said/remember, but it was the start of Windows optimization downturn. It worked great on top of the line systems with tons of power, and was the best looking Windows Microslop ever developed.
It just happened to also coincide with the start of netbooks and low power computers going mainstream, and marketing thought that the F1 requiring OS should also be sold on a 3 door hatchback with 60 horsepower.
TIL that Lithuania is Russia’s Scotland. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.
The Hunt for Red October did the same, the first minutes are in Russian with subtitles and then it slips into English mid sentence as if the audience adapted to the language. Very effective actually.
Doesn’t change the fact that it’s Sean Connery’s brogue on a Russian naval captain, but at least it somewhat explains it. Clearly the captain is from wherever the Scottish equivalent for Russia is.
I’m sure they would if the city would stop fining and harassing them about the bore holes for core samples. The pencil pushers are always standing in the way of real science.

1·4 months agoWhat exactly is the problem with Manjaro? I ended up trying it, but my switch to Linux from Windows 11 has been hampered by Battlefield 6 and a few other games. Did I make the wrong choice for Linux distro?

9·5 months agoTo add insult to injury, they are fully capable of adding the 4g module because Canadian Volts were able to be upgraded. GM decided to not let US owners pay for the upgrade, because fuck us that’s why.
Not the OP, but you can clean all the parts when torn down for service. Vacuum bags instead of holding tanks also helps with that, but mostly it’s the filters. Replace all the filters and the smells go with it.
My mid 2000’s Japanese SUV. Manual transmission, regular old v6 gas engine, only one “computer”. Same engine, drivetrain, and frame for 3-4 different models so parts are abundant. Can repair/replace anything on it with a handful of power tools and elbow grease.

4·9 months agoI will preface this by saying I do not agree with how this administration is enforcing immigration law, and triple disagree with how they are removing legal status from people to get easy deportations. It is being done both stupidly and cruelly. ICE should be uniformed and identifiable, and all law enforcement should be held to the highest standards.
That said, an asylum seeker is just that, an asylum seeker and not an illegal immigrant. Lumping them in with illegal immigrants to help whitewash illegal immigration is, in my opinion, as much a contributor to the problem as those claiming asylum seekers are lying. Both sides of this argument keep shoving the asylum seekers into the illegal immigrant bucket to serve their narratives and it pisses me off.
Obviously every person who illegally immigrates is doing so trying to feed themselves and/or their family better than they can in their own country, basically no one wakes up and decides to throw away their entire lives and legal status to go to another country. That does not mean laws don’t apply to them. No one on earth has a right to go to another country except through the established legal means of that country, which is why statelessness is such a terrible crime against the people who are rendered such.
Lumping in illegal immigration with things like race and slurs and calling it racist waters down racist. Basic human dignity and respect for things that are intrinsic qualities like race, gender, sexuality, etc is not the same thing as someone’s legal status. This doesn’t stop the racists, doesn’t help anyone, and weakens actual narrative.
Are you saying that most Jewish people aren’t actually Jewish anymore because they became white Europeans when their ancestors left the middle east, or at least that Hamas is saying that?

You have to factor in the $5 million the government takes, so $4 million (or realistically closer to $3 million) into a growth fund.
