When Mr beast did his big Minecraft pvp challenge, they did something similar with several servers joined together. It didn’t work with projectiles though, so no arrows or snowballs. I don’t know if this system has that constraint, but you get a lot of weird interactions when you separate it out like that.

The Hobbit wasn’t originally set in middle earth. He started working on the Silmarillion in 1914 at 22, but didn’t start Lord of the Rings till much later. I don’t know if he began to set the Hobbit in middle earth before or after starting on Lord of the Rings.

You’d need a world wide government to tax and distribute for that, right? So that government would need to have control of every over country, like the EU on a larger scale. That seems unlikely to happen without violence, but I guess it would work if every worker in the world was suddenly in support of it.
