It’s actually kind of crazy what amount of tech people have to use just to save a webpage for later reading.

Do you know what the stupid thing about this is? Those generations are not the same between countries. Babyboomer for example are defined as people born between 1946 and 1964 in the USA. In Germany it’s 1955 till 1969. There are also people around talking about “Boomer” in asian countries, which had totally different experiences and demographics. The whole concept of those “generations” is trash and people thinking that there is a specific stare for everyone who was born in a certain timeframe is also an idiot

I’m running Onlyoffice on Ubuntu and it has been nice so far. Great software - so where is this “highly criticized” coming from and should I be concerned? Switch to the fork?

Thank you - that sound good :)

How can someone get his data out of the system? I’m always hesitant to try software like these - I have been burned by software where it is easy to put in your data and hard or impossible to get out.

What sources is this searching for books?

It kind of shows the priorities? Your infrastructure will be fine for a few years if you do no maintenance. After that, it’s downhill. If you are investing in maintaining it, you show that you have the longterm interests of the population in mind instead of some shortterm things that might help you during your short term
Be careful with what you are watching in the next few years. Hollywood gave itself a diverse face in the last few years. Put in black actors, had some strong women in lead roles, had some gay characters and so on. I’m afraid that we will see some movies pushing hart right MAGA topics in the next time. Movies that are pushing for traditional gender roles, have gay people as evil masterminds, immigrants as criminals and so on. We already saw that with all those movies with evil arab guys in the bush era. Hollywood was taken over by Trump’s tech billionaires, you will see this turn it in the media you are watching. That will influence you and maybe you shouldn’t watch such stuff

But what is the purpose of this? So people are setting up bots that are sending PRs to open source projects, but why?
Yeah, i have no idea how all those people are doing their work. I need a big monitor or two, a good keyboard and a nice mouse!
Kind of interesting that an area near one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations is exactly the opposite of touristy. Everything in Paris with a view of the Eiffel Tower is totally overrun with restaurants and souvenir shops.

I have been following the curl issue for quite a while. I think that it’s different from what I wanted to tell you here. Curl is getting too many PRs that are AI generated and the human maintainers can’t deal with them all.
What we are here seeing is people using coding agents and LLMs to help with their own work. So it’s a different kind of thing. You can also imagine a situation where projects are getting hammered by AI bot traffic, but are getting also helped by using LLMs with their project itself.

There’s no reason for thinking that LLMs will destroy open source. People complain about slopware, but might also give us a lot of new cool projects.

You might not like it, but the whole software development is starting to include AI. So you can expect that every project out there will have some kind of LLM written code in it. And maybe not now, but give it a few months or years and it will be in every major project. And even if you can’t see it, there will always be the PR going in from someone who used LLMs.

It’s not perfect but will break many bot logins and people trying different logins from data leaks.

Currently an old Corsa D. Which is a great car, honestly. It has already gone 210.000km. So it will not last forever and I would like to have an electric car afterwards.
And that is correct. Headaches are different. Some people are helped by aspirin. Aspirin comes in different forms, as pill, powder, stick, in different doses. Other people maybe need Ibuprofen or Paracetamol or even harder pain medications. Those also come in different forms and doses. So every of those 20 answers is correct and you need to find out what works for you.
The world is complex and you need to find out what works for you. The idea that one OS or one distro is perfect for everyone on this planet is wrong just as the idea that one medication in one specific dose can be perfect for a complex illness like headaches for every of those 8.5 billion people on this planet. You have to be willing to find what works for you - or just keep suffering from headaches.

I quit commercial Social Media and am only here and on Mastodon. So I’m not spending my time at Facebook, X, TikTok and so on anymore where they can show me ads and make money from them. I’ve moved most of my online stuff to a selfhosted solution and switched my computers to Linux.
The most impactful thing is something different, however: I put solar on my roof. Most of my power consumption is now from solar, which means that all those texan oil barons, saudi sheiks and russian dictators that are funding Trump, are getting less money from me. That are over 1000€ every year that I’m saving and that is not going into their pockets. And it is good for the environment, too!

The best thing about this is that it enables you to stop organizing all this paper. I have a little box next to my scanner and everything that is scanned is just getting put on top of the pile. In most cases you never need the original document anyways. But if you need it, you can check Paperless when it was scanned and you will find that document from Feb 2023 in a few seconds.
:D
