sometimes when I come across a tesla while on foot I do a quick ”roman” salute, with 2 fingers on the philtrum for the stache
I just want everyone to feel welcome

Indeed I see how the “take over the whole screen” could be annoying.
It does simple math as well though! As for the sluggishness I don’t notice it. You can speed up animations with “Just perfection”, but again an extra extension (although this one is very well maintained)
ulauncher
Out of curiosity: why is it you don’t like the overview? That’s one of my favorite aspects of Gnome, and the first thing I tried to replicate in KDE
Edit: I do customize it a bit with extensions though. For example when I start typing and the search bar is immediately focused. And a few other things, like middle click to close windows

blood boil
I’m the same, but I try to explain the errors of their ways in the most relaxed manner.
Most times it doesn’t make a difference but once in a while someone is receptive and makes a change. and it’s really rewarding.
It has been theorized once 25% of the population accepts an opinion the rest tends to follow, so I try to be optimistic and take it one step at a time. Lately I’ve had the impression I’m seeing progress.

I’m sure when it’s correctly prepared. This had the texture of a sponge.
When saying it deserves “all” the criticism, I might have been hyperbolic
I agree with most of what you said.
The keep it simple philosophy I agree with, but there are a few UI decisions, a few missing features I couldn’t wrap my head around. They tend to be rectified in the end because it’s common sense, but it takes a very long time and it can be frustrating. I’m sorry my memory is shit so I only remember the sentiment and don’t have specifics. I do have one recent example, I needed to change a very simple shortcut. The system doesn’t allow it and it feels arbitrary.
Extensions are really great. Some are absolute gems, and they tend to work perfectly. But the fact some are almost mandatory to have sane default is an issue. Especially when you have multiple devices. I don’t think most people want a useless popup telling you the program has launched (or the window is activated, what is it again?), popup which once clicked won’t even open said program. The extensions graveyard is hard to see though. I had recently a good one that wouldn’t be ported to latest gnome, killing my linux tablet workflow. and can anyone tell me what the app menu with icons in seemingly random order is for?
I’ve used KDE for 4 years and mostly liked it, but I had tons of issues, and very few with Gnome.
KDE users I know your experience might be different but I’m telling you how it went for me. Gnome, while imperfect in this regard, has been much better. I tried Plasma 6 when it came out and it was pretty much the same for me, but I will give it another try at one point.

25 years ago it was served in my french school, once or twice a year maybe. Never saw any since.
I remember thinking at the time it was ok, a bit like chicken.
My biology teacher was aware of the menu and explained to us in which gruesome way they were butchered. I didn’t eat any after that.
We had other “old fashioned” dishes from time to time, like veal tongue. Nobody liked that. There’s something a bit unsettling in seeing hundreds of tongues sitting in a big container
It deserves all the criticism.
And it is by far my favorite DE.

certainly not an obscure videogame, but Prey (2017) is amazing, and for some reason it flopped. Also the DLC might be the best I’ve played, it’s a completely new kind of game
if you check the free epic games sometimes you might have it in your collection
Both answers to @PeriodicallyPedantic@lemmy.ca seem to imply there’s a hidden insult in their comment, but I can’t find it. I’m the dumb cookie and I don’t like that

I forgot: I called two more times recently because my phone screen would not turn on, and apparently there’s a setting in LineageOS to call the emergencies if you fiddle with the buttons, so as to make the situation even worse, and then there’s a voice telling you you’re about to talk to someone and you can’t hang up! (Edit: I suppose they would call back in any case).
Happened twice before I found the setting.
So yeah, I wasted their time, again.

15 years ago, young student, I’m walking home around midnight. In the middle of a bridge I see a human shape jumping in the water. I’m not 100% sure. I ask a group of people further up on the bridge if they saw anything, they didn’t, but said I still should call 112.
One or two police cars came, and then one (or 2?) fire truck. Lots of people. Some went with full diving equipment in the water.
They couldn’t find anyone, said it was surprising as the water was very low. The fireman captain gave me the stinkeye.
Police had left their lightbar on and the car wouldn’t start (I think that was the reason) so I helped to push.
I had to come to the police station and tell what I saw many, many times.
Only years later did I realize I was being interrogated, to find out if my story had holes. I was quite naive (dumb works too).
I wasn’t drunk, depressed, or had any kind of weird fantasies that would make me want to invent a story. It’s the only time I called the cops in my life.
All cops were friendly, even though they must’ve thought I was lying or had too much imagination.
Did someone jump? Now I think not. But at the time I really thought there was a possibility, and I wouldn’t take any chances. I just didn’t realize how many people and resources would be involved.

I was living with roommates clueless about house maintenance stuff.
So one day I explain we should purge the radiators. Did I forget to say "purge the air"? I dont know. But the bucket I told em to use to catch water spilling one roommate thought was supposed to be used to empty the radiators.
I was on the computer and saw him from the corner of my eye go empty his bucket a few times before I caught on.
I’m the same. But of course I do daily the parts where the sun don’t shine.
Some people really do smell more than others, with the same washing habits.
I myself prefer a slight body odor in others, even light sweat (not stink!). Although some perfumes smell really good. But that agressive deodorant smell I hate.

needed to tow those massive US johnsons is what you meant?

So that’s why Americans love cars so much
Making 180k with that 70 IQ brain

Edit: Nah, no influencers in 2007, a blissful time
Everyday I see tankie posts and it’s often the same scam: “america bad” (okay) “hence russia and china good”
Your post could be interpreted as such, especially on Lemmy
