I’m failing to understand why we would need decimal units at all. Whats the point of them? And why do the original units havr to change name to something as ridiculous as “Gibibyte” while the unnecessary decimal units get the binary’s old name?

Reject MiB, call it “MB” like it originally was.
Perhaps their stack is on Windows 2005 Server
Rewe also sells products by weight (mainly unpackaged fruits and vegetables).
…do you not understand how basic math works?
I do, actually. My whole point was that you need basic maths in your everyday life even though you have a calculator on your phone. You jumped right into the 6th comment in this thread without reading what this is about, didn’t you?
You don’t know how much you need to pay for it if you only know the price of 1kg but you buy half a kilo.
Reminds me of Bo Burnham’s song New Math
But if you want to buy only half a kg, you don’t know how much it costs (if you dont know basic maths)- because it only lists the price for a full kg. Do you start pulling out your Excel for that?
“Can I get that salad medium-rare please?”
If that’s Bitcoin then this would actually give you, at the current exchange rate of BTC to USD:
0.000000000002557444% USD. If you got that card once every milliscond, you would need 31 years to have 2.5$.
I doubt you’d be rich with one card except lol.
You literally dont have to pay for that. You can choose to not do that. It would be pretty dumb of you to do that but it’s possible.
I was actually not aware of that… Makes more sense now.
Except I have cups in my kitchen that are double the size of other cups and I dont know which ones to use.
Thats probably more of a correlation though. Like, the drivers that leave that much space are probably doing so only because they know they arent paying attention. If they were paying attention, a 2s distance would be safer.
7 seconds means they didnt have a full bladder. A minute means they stopped somewhere in between or you didnt count correctly.
Every time, a good 75% of people stand up before it’s allowed and it annoys me every time.
Germany provided Israel with anti-tank weapons and also training muniton. That’s it (according to official statements). Doesn’t sound like something you could commit a genocide with to me…
What exactly are people referring to when the label this a genocide? Like, what line was crossed where this changed from defending against terrorists to commiting a genocide, in your opinion? (I’m genuienly curious, couldnt really find anything specific on this)
Your honour, our client can’t have intent because they’re demonstrably criminally insane, we know because we caused that insanity". Not in that many words, but to that effect.
That’s completely made up, either by you or by another person. What they actually say is that Israel’s intent is to defend against the armed attacks of the Hamas, not to commit a genocide.
More like: “Your honor, our client is just trying to defend themselves, they are not doing this to commit a genocide”
Well, thank you for taking the time to write this detailed explanation!
Windows and MacOS use the abbriviation “MB” referring to the binary units, correct? How come that these big OS’s use another unit than these large international bodies recognize?
On a side note, I’ve always found it weird why HDDs or SSDs are/were sold with 128GB, 265GB, 512GB etc. when they are referring to decimal units.
