I have friends who are still religious and it seems like they’ve pivoted from “lake of fire” to a more “hell is the absence of God” vibes
I live in a crunchy granola area so I just assume that’s how the church here operates to keep patrons.

When my wife and I stay at a hotel we watch cable and put on like QVC shopping channels.
It’s fun to overreact and be like “this is 100 genuine silver painted lead.” Some of the channels will have like changing infographics that flash and explode every second as the price keeps dropping so we make wooshing sounds as it keeps falling to a new low.
I’m claustrophobic just thinking about that nightmare
I’ve always said that waving to your neighbors buys a lot of favors.
I might forget my neighbors name but since he waves to me every time I see him then I’d die for that dude
Eh that seems like a major stretch. NJ used above was prefaced with “somewhat niche US info”
I even replaced what the guy said which was Chris Christie with NJ gov because I hardly expected anyone abroad to know him
I feel like if we’re going to start thinking that someone’s putting the ass in assumption just because they used something others might not understand then we’re in trouble
You’d have to kill off any slang or expressions for fear that people might not understand them
As a US citizen I think we forget how much of our shit gets out.
I’m always surprised when I go abroad and people are up to date with somewhat niche US info. I was in Hong Kong and some local dude made a reference to the fatass NJ gov who was chilling on the closed beach during lockdowns.
I do feel like I see far more people complaining about US people making assumptions than I do US people assuming. When I’m replying to someone I don’t put any thought into where they’re from unless they drop a context clue.
Oh nice I was wondering if there was like an all in one place to put my shitty automations. I’ve been oddly fixated on automating my blinds.
I don’t think my adhd ever came out as restlessness.
I always tried really hard to keep track of what was going on but the dumbest thing would cause me to zone out . When I was done zoning out I was so lost that I would just give up and continue daydreaming.
You can buy like $50 kits or go on Craigslist and look for someone selling their impulse bought gear.
Add in a license fee and even then it’s not too bad for time killing hobby.
I think when I first got into it I was put off thinking I’d need like the finest $3k in orvis gear and I’d need to buy $10 flies at my local shops.
Like there’s a weird bougie-classist feeling I think a lot of people have which turns them off of trying to get into the sport.
It survived and lived for a good bit longer.
I wish I knew what species it was. If anyone knows what type of live eels they sold in Asian markets in central Illinois like thirty years ago lmk lol
Nah it survived and lived for a good bit longer. I think it pushed the cheap lid/light combo off of its tank.
Some things just bring back memories you haven’t thought about in a while 🤷🏻♂️
Fly fishing
Got yelled at as a kid for playing with your pole too much? Then it’s the hobby for you. Can practice in your backyard and it’s fun just to whip shit around
When I was a kid I bought an eel from the local Chinese grocery store. We went away one weekend and came back to it dried up and covered in hair on the floor. I thought it was dead because it was so dried out but the thing was still kicking when I went to bag it.
Lmao for real
Every time I’ve gotten a real pay increase it’s because I’ve hopped to a new company.
I hate to admit that my first couple times as a manager I left as soon as I felt like I actually knew what I was doing and not just faking it
I enjoy office work more than wfh because I genuinely like the people I work with and I think we riff off each other way better in person
Hah I was about to say that only bad part of startups that I’ve had was that you weren’t sure if you’d have a job six months from now. I probably just got lucky and jumped on board during the “throw cash at everything phase”
We’re just calling everything ADHD now
Hong Kong
I just expected like a flat New York “too tame to be fun” city but was met with mountains, beaches, and so many bizarre but charming events.
Not that I don’t like New York but it has changed a lot. I don’t want to say it lost its personality but I feel like a lot of big cities have become idk… commercialized?
The food in Hong Kong was pretty disappointing tho or maybe I built it up too much in my head. I went to so many restaurants that were recommended to me by either locals or expats and they were all so bland. Which is wild because I didn’t have to go far across the border into China to find amazing dishes.

My wife often goes “I’m looking like a granola girl today but fuck it”
