The largest is the Leopard slug, yeah? I saw one of them in Ireland a few years back and it had some really neat looking patterns.

I wish I had put something down for scale! Cool to know they can get even bigger than this one (approx 15-17cm).
woah, did you have a bunch of them swarming your trees?
Very cool! Now I want to go back and see if I can find some variants!
I’d guess it was 15-17cm/ 6-7 in. Absolute unit of a molluscs!
This is the first one I’ve seen in the wild, and they are fascinating to watch! I probably spent an hour just following it around while it slimed along every surface in its path.
I didn’t realize they were being displaced…

1·17 days agoThanks! I’ve been a few times over the years but not before it received park status in mid 90s. From what I hear, it was a bit of mecca for psychedelic enthusiasts. Its a lot more touristy these days, but that money really helps the conservation efforts (or at least it used to sigh). Still tons of great camping and climbing!

4·25 days agoIt is my favourite part of the US by far! I’ve seen a lot of the country over the last few years, and nothing quite compares.

2·29 days agoFunny you say that. I’m currently living closer to Mount Rainier, and its top 3 in the US for eruption potential. It also looks exactly like Mount Saint Helens did before it went sideways…

3·28 days agoThe name refers to the area/trail, but its called that due to the gas pipeline that runs through it. To my knowledge, none of that infrastructure actually caught on fire, but it was certainly a risk! The smoke was all from a very dry forest that lit up like a tinderbox. It was accidentally started by an unhoused man living in the surrounding woods while trying to burn toilet paper… Since the wind speed was high that day, it spread very quickly. I watched the fire climb from the base of that peak to the top in like 30 minutes.
What part of the world? This guy was pretty quiet, but I heard lots of chirping around the campsite later.
Cannon!

Makes sense, these guys can really cover ground quicker than I would have guessed by looking at them. It would be interesting to set up a time laps to catch them hunting your apples.
