  • Music from Microsoft when they had the store and original DRM. They later shut it down and on newer Windows had no way to restore your DRM keys, so the music was useless/locked. Their support basically said “oh well”. Eventually I got around the DRM by an ancient version of Roxio CD burner, somehow because it came out before MS DRM it just read the track and burned it to CD, there was no DRM checking I guess

  • Windows11 is trying to do just that; having a minimum spec chip, so they could eventually drop support for a lot of older hardware. But PCs are so modular that you can pretty much add any hardware together and the OS (such as Linux) can figure out the packages you need to make it all run…but even Linux has dropped a lot of 32bit support in the last few years. So it happens, just at a much longer time frame

  • There was a book called the Domestic Encyclopedia that I used to have, it was a super thick book, it had all kinds of cleaning solution solutions depending on what you were cleaning. Somewhat ironically my clean freak wife made me get rid of it, so that the shelves liked tidy. But lemon and vinegar do work, the citrus oil and acids help breakdown stuff, where as 90% of things can be cleaned with just water anyway - water being the universal solvent.
