  • Maybe I’m just naive but I personally no matter how little I know a person would “ghost” someone especially if there is some open thread.

I don’t know the full context of your social situation or how your friends work. But given what little I know I’d just take this a learning experience and move on. I doubt in the long haul it will look bad on you. If anything look poorly on the other person.

You seem like you care about relationships and people. Someone one better will certainly come along.

Regardless, best of luck with everything.

  • When I was young I was bullied every single day. For the longest time It bothered me. Then one day something changed, I stopped caring. People would throw out insults and jokes and I just dissociate myself. I’d hear it and if it was at all funny I’d laugh. After about a month I was entirely left alone. Those people were never nice to me and never showed me respect. But the fact they got 0 rise at me meant they got bored.

So I’d suggest to anyone to not take whatever personally and just shrug it off. Eventually in my experience it stops !

I will say this may not work for everyone. And for some this may just escalate to even more horrible things. But it might be worth a shot ? And obviously change course if things go south …

  • Because you wrote this I too agree in heard mentality.

Actually let’s agree to disagree. Lemmy is a niche social media platform. By its very nature attracts a particular set of people. Those who like to self host those who care about privacy. A lot of college educated people. So it’s not insane to reason many of these people will have similar beliefs or political leanings.

This is further reinforced with what Lemmy is all about, topics for like minded people.

Does that capture everyone ? No ! Of course not. You still will find people who disagree all over the fediverse.

Humans by modern nature do their best to put themselves in a box. Don’t know why …
