I thought that’s part of the reason we excelled as a species, seeing the patterns to eat or run from and knowing which is which. Plus getting curious about new ones and if they dont eat us figuring out what to do with them.

I won’t say it’s always my thing but sometimes a plain action movie with few cheesy lines is all you’re looking for. Definitely saw enough Chuck Norris in the 80s to confirm that.

Seems odd they’d both end up in the same crappy movie together in that year. May not be remembering movie years well but Urban was least in Star Trek and Bettany in Marvel even if only as a voice but assume the plan was to make him Vision from the start.

I always get my isp outers as pass through so network is controlled by my entry. I have never bothered doing much with it but it’s nice to have the option.

I used to use a ddwrt firmware for years but eventually my hardware could never keep up with my net speeds and manufacture firmware was faster. Trying an Omada network now seems alright but haven’t added their wifi.

I’m nearing 50 and found it seems I recall about the same of being a kid as I did 20 years ago, but don’t recall 20 years ago as much as I’d think so now. Though yes long term seems better cemented in memory than day to day lately.

Mean if I forgot the kid stuff I wouldn’t realize it cause no one around that would tell me either so…well I’m used to being wrong too.

They want to continue not working in the end. They’re lazy fucking useless. They got lucky with their wealth that’s the end of it maybe a few good investments or a good stock buy but they offer no real investment into our society. They just want to feed off everyone else’s work and that’s no way for society to thrive.

Fuck billionaires and their rich class. Imagine the society without them where we can live off our own futune? If I only, one day.

Definitely one of my favourites somehow didn’t read (well listen) till like 8 years ago, wish I made the effort much sooner but grew up mostly without an Internet or friends to tell me I should check it out…then decades happened. Took me a listen or two to really get it but it’s one of those I pick up on some line I didn’t ponder before that says more than first glance.

Rest of the trilogy is great too I’m hoping the 3rd in the peripheral series will be good.

At my age (sorry dunno yours) everything comes quickly but I agree this, and other tech stuff lately, come on fast these days.

Side note reminds me of neuromancer (book) where it’s described as subcultures can come up and disappear quite fast. Oddly relevant to today even if we can’t plug into the net. It’s a single line in the book so don’t think that’s the focus if you haven’t read it, but I do recommend. Though the prose can’t be difficult sometimes cause sometimes almost written poetic.

Growing up I always had the green left handed ones for elementary, not even sure I’ve noticed in 30+ years besides when the Xmas wrapping paper was on awkward side that I’m now just used to using right handed ones. Some issues with wrapping this recent season …

I always played some sports different handed though was never good at either side so didn’t seem to make much of a difference but say golf clubs feel way better right handed, baseball I can never remember which one I want to throw with.

I will add there are other heaters you plug into the car for where you need to make sure to unplug before too long. Block heaters tend to only heat up to a point, pan heaters are like an element on the stove so gotta make sure to not burn anything.

Where I grew up you didn’t want a vehicle with some engine heater but block was the usual. No reason to live in that area if you can’t afford a block heater for sure…I had a cheap car with a pan heater it sucked but was like 1/3 of a paycheque.

Heh had the same issue with shoes one time, school thing (dogsled bit was from a school too) and one pair of shoes we had were some high top canvas sneakers guess converse like? But random supplied by the school you had to take (folded into packs nicely at least). Maybe the sole was better though. Then hiking in the Rockies up high in late August it did freeze (many decades ago now probably not today at the same time) and cause of river crossings during the day and no way to properly dry them lthe canvas froze in whatever lumpy position they rested in. We all had least two pairs of shoes so not too bad but having to deal with and was probably only -5 at worst. Mean I least I know how to deal with it but not something I’d purposely put myself in anymore.

Been there even at that temp, though when I learned there was someone who had to run in front of the dogs and break trail. I ended up having to break trail more than operating the sled, guess they didn’t want to overload the dogs.

Nothing like camping at that temperature and groggily waking up hearing ‘the fire is out’ and reazling your hands are freezing, leader kid thought he’d stay awake enough I guess, this was all high school era. Thankfully there were backup cabins to retreat to when shit sucked. We did have a successful night in a quinzee on the same trip though.

I listen to them all the time doing random housework, cooking, exercise. They are great, though easier to miss lore / plot points when doing it that way. So I just tend to listen to the good ones multiple times heh.

And of course, check our your library for them! Libby app is great for my local one but I’m sure apps vary by location.

The case connections are always the worst for me, mean maybe there’s some standard and if you’re not old you can read the tiny print on the board…but I always end up following the manual to be sure. Especially the cases with the single + or - for the device ugh out of all things that aren’t standardized why is it the damn case connections?

Actually out of my decades of doing computers that’s the part that makes me wonder if the computer will turn on when I press the button first level alone the HDD activity light going properly. I couldn’t care less about that but I did like watching it to know my computer was doing something in the 90s.

USB cable goes into the USB hole (doesn’t work turn it around)…USB cable goes into the USB hole (still doesn’t want to work you just didn’t want to fiddle enough the first time)…while I’m quite proficient at building computers (haven’t bought an off the shelf one in a few decades) saying it looks like it goes where it says it does doesn’t always work for beginners. My editor’s font/ligeratue changes the != To that symbol when programming. Unfortunately I have to use visual basic usually and type out Not most of the tiime but works well with C#.

Probably not a big increase in readability but I like it. Damn hate all the words needed in VB.net but oh well, could not be programming for work which would be worse and least still know .net libraries.
