6·3 months agoYep. Balance. More generally it’s all about social calibration. Get a good idea of where you are, then aim for the comfortable middle.
IIRC there was a study where people with strong opinions talked to an Al and the process changed their minds.

Kino really has a sense of wonder and exploration that’s hard to find. Made in Abyss also that kind of vibe but for all the wrong reasons, it’s seriously fucked up.
If you’re looking for something that won’t traumatize, Dennou Coil is pretty good. I also liked Haibane renmei.

My kindle with the entire Expanse series of novels is my go-to solution for doom scrolling. I keep it handy around the dining room table, and I want to set a good example for the kiddo. Works pretty well since I can stay in the family conversation, absorb words, and put it down in an instant.
If you like paper, tons of bookmarks are a good thing to.
Who would ever want to sneeze faster? 😄
My wife does this too, both of us have the reflex, I just happen to not enjoy sneezing?

Imagine something more valuable than your life. Every moment you think of a loved one being well you feel joy. When they are hurt you feel a physical pain in your chest. You would do anything for them. The world is no longer about you.
Looking from the outside that sounds like a very vulnerable and unattractive situation to be in. But I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
(Disclaimer: It’s still possible to hold unconditional love and betray that love in a self centric way, I have, but the above is how I would describe the ‘feeling’ of it)

Japanese has three alphabets (and the English alphabet… and those Arabic numbers we are all familiar with)
Given those and the English letters at your fingertips they have a lot of tools to give context. Grab a newspaper or Manga sometime, even if you don’t know the words you can tell each writing system apart pretty easily.
