I remember being upset about the exact same thing when 4G first launched.

OH MAN. I worked on an Android tablet that used a rockchip CPU, not the one listed here but an older one (I think RK3026). What a PIECE OF SHIT. I don’t wish that tablet on my worst enemy. Battery life was like sub 2 hours with a 3200 mAh battery. Sometimes it would start running hot, and you could watch the batter percentage go down one percent every 10-20 seconds. The only way to break it out was to reboot it or let it die.

We later upgraded our CPU to the 3288, one gen older than this one, and it was significantly improved, but still very entry level.

In the winter months, I live off of unsweetened herbal tea with no caffeine.

I feel like a very high percentage of posts and comments here are just “Americans bad.” And as an American, even though the things they are complaining about don’t apply to me specifically, it makes me feel very unwelcome.

Yes, I intentionally didn’t want to provide too many details, as I thought it would just be confusing for someone who doesn’t already have a lot of background knowledge on the subject.

But specifically, I was talking about command line programs and ending them with Ctrl-C

I didn’t mean the programs were in danger. When this is done to some programs, it can cause bad things to happen to your computer.

It can be really dangerous for some programs. I don’t know too much about Windows, but in Linux, if we try to close a program once, it sends SIGTERM (or SIGINT, I can’t remember right now), which basically asks your program to stop. You program can receive that signal and finish things up and exit cleanly. But if your program is deadlocked and can’t handle that right now, closing the program again sends it a SIGKILL, which is basically the OS saying, “Get fucked. You’re done whether you like it or not.”

What lists do you have? They pretty much all came up for me. I tried it again with ublock origin to compare, but none showed up with ublock origin.

Well, sure. I type on my laptop that doesn’t have any of these as physical keys. It’s fn+arrow keys for pg up, pg down, home, and end, for example.

I set up pihole a few months ago. I added a few dozen of the highest recommended block lists, but I wasn’t impressed at all. It didn’t seem very effective at blocking ads in both real world tests and tests that I found online specifically for testing your adblocker.

It was accidental.

So I started working at a startup right after I graduated college. They couldn’t pay a competitive wage, so they gave me a ton of stock. A year into working there, about half the company was laid off. I survived. They begged us not to leave the company by giving us more stock. I started interviewing elsewhere, because I have bills to pay, but I never got any other jobs. Then one day they handed me an envelope. It contained paperwork for even more stock. I thought it wasn’t going to be worth the paper it was printed on, so I kept looking for other jobs. Never found one.

Well, a few years go by and the company starts doing very well. Then we got bought out. Suddenly all the worthless stock they gave me was worth a fuck ton of money. The buying company bought ALL of it. Even unvested shares. One day they wrote me a really, really big check, then I went and bought a house.

It was absolutely life changing, and I tried to throw it away at every chance I got. I got so lucky.

You don’t use Home? Home and End are my two most used keys on this list. IDEs move your cursor to the beginning of the line but after the indents. It’s God -tier.

Good food in convenience stores.

That technology just hasn’t made it to the US yet.

I moved to a cardinal area from an area that didn’t have them, and it blew my mind to see one for the first time. They are gorgeous birds. They are also annoying as fuck. But they are so pretty while they are annoying.

Sort of like my cat.

I own a raspberry pi 4. Every time I try to use it, I spend half my time trying to fix the stuttery/non responsive UI by fucking with the compistor and such. And then I give up.

I eventually got a new gaming PC and turned my old one into a Linux server, and haven’t really touched my Raspberry Pi since.

Hair ties leading to receding hair line reeks of an old wives tale. I would look into actual research on the topic, and if it hasn’t been proven true, assume it is false.

It was really annoying to set up if I’m being honest. If I hadn’t taken classes on Docker, I would have never figured it out. Luckily they have been improving the process recently. It already much easier now than it was a week ago. Hopefully by the next major release it is easy peasy.

I decided to host my own because I was on lemmy.world and we got blocked by beehaw, which had many of the communities I wanted to be a part of. I run mine on a server that’s in my house, so the only thing I’m paying for is electricity. And I have solar panels.
