It’s really not about being “the weird kid”, some of us just legitimately have light sensitivity. Me and all my siblings have it, cause my mom has it. My dad is the only one who likes bright lights and the rest of us prefer darker lighting. Well I do like the sun, so not always, but most indoor lighting feels way brighter than sunlight and feels strange on my eyes.

I have a reply to most of the points you’ve brought up which I hope will help you see another perspective. Some things I hadn’t even thought of until you wrote this (thanks). But I don’t have time to write them all now, nor do I want to type it all out at my phone. Leaving this comment as a reminder.
They don’t have to mean the same thing, it’s an expression. And quite a nice one at that.
I don’t think this change makes it more funny, it just changes the type of humor.
Honestly my guy, you are not terrible person. I get where you’re at though, humans are social creatures and we do everything in power to make social reality actual reality. But you gotta remember that actual reality is the thing that actually exists not the social reality. We made that one up. And in the real reality the one that matters, you just exist nothing more nothing less. There is no wrong or right just existence.
I hope you can find people who are not living in the fake social reality and at least try to live in real reality. They will be your people. I found some of mine, I believe you will find yours.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What beliefs or hypotheses do you hold strongly despite not feeling confident that you can necessarily prove or evince it?
1·1 year agoI’ve been reading through some of your blog articles, and I wanted to ask if there are any other platforms you’re active on? I wanted to have a more in depth conversation but lemmy might not be the best place for that. I still think that some extrapolations of the theory need work, but the core is pretty solid and fairly in line with my beliefs. Would definitely be interested in getting more context to better inform my path in life going forward.

4·1 year agoThis is very interesting but feels deeply uncooked, needs some time in the oven to cement itself a little bit more
Unprocessed palm oil. Not the stuff you get in stores that looks like a regular vegetable oil. The red stuff that solidifies but has a low melting point.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's a good videogame (story or gameplay) with out-of-this-world graphics?
1·1 year agoAny of the Horizon games, genuinely some of the most beautiful games I have ever played. Zero Dawn has some downright beautiful winter environments. And while I’ve barely started Forbidden West, that game is a step up from the from the first game from the very first moment you get control of Aloy. So pretty! I recommend watching the trailers to see more

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•To the girls here: what action or social behaviour/etiquette you think you can get away doing/not doing that you couldn't if you were a man?
4·1 year agoFair enough, me and my family been going through a lot of that recently and while I think it’ll be worthwhile in the end, the process is quite hellish. No pain no gain I guess.

I think it was Bleach on adult swim at night as a kid after all the other stuff like robot chicken and aqua teen hunger force ended. Could also be DBZ though
I just fundamentally disagree, after watching hundreds of anime and just lots of media in general, there is definitely tropes and excessive repetition of stuff, but the specific tropes referenced here are objectively not prevalent in every genre of anime. Perhaps Isekai and high school slice of life romance but not super prevalent outside of that. And most newer or older anime don’t have it either, there was a very short band of time where what he mentioned was prevalent.
As much as I agree with saying that for Naruto, hard disagree on One Piece, that is one of the best series ever made at least in my opinion. Why do you think One Piece does the same thing over and over again, the story and world have evolved so much I find that hard to believe.
It’s crazy how all you described was just a subsection of anime, specifically slice of life high school romance animes and then expanded that to everything else. I mean even calling anime a genre is weird since it’s just animated content with a specific range of art styles, the story can be anything. The simping and sexualization is definitely an issue but that comes with anything that is a entertainment. Could I ask you what you consume nowadays aside from anime? I’m curious since I wanna know the gap you perceive between that and anime in general.

I’m the second type, but I extended it to literally every relevant piece of knowledge in my life. So now I’m trying to fix my entirely rotten foundation from school.
Shockingly, it’s actually going pretty well. Turns out the human brain gets better at handling information the more diverse high quality info you provide. Deep diving into niche topics seems worse than just getting a robust foundation and then generalizing.
Having a good thought framework also seems to matter a lot, once I worked out how to think critically in a proper that sped a lot of learning up. Now I don’t have to really think twice about most miscellanous things, they’re all actually really similar. Humans are not as diverse as we think lol.
