Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Should I be trying to leave the USA before it's too late?English
122·1 month agoI don’t think you’re overreacting given that a white male was just shot, as a protester, in cold blood just minutes ago.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why is Reddit getting so ignorant?English
3·1 month agoYou have a point for sure, although Lemmy’s user base is around 45000 or slightly more vs 500,000,000 to Reddits. That’s like 0.009% of Reddit’s user base.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why is Reddit getting so ignorant?English
10·1 month agoMaybe try using a redlib instance if you need to check out reddit. Personally, I wouldn’t sign in knowing I’m about to freely train that lifeless humming shell of a parasitic LLM incubator.
Same with me, I was amazed at how the plants and rocks looked so similar to terrestrial features. 🥴- Beautiful PIC by the way.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How did bittorrent fail to become essential technology?English
5·3 months agoThanks and yes I’m comfortable with English as my first language. I was trying to post my comment with respect for OP. A QWERTY keyboard has the U and I together, my phone keyboard sucks for sure.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How did bittorrent fail to become essential technology?English
21·3 months agoHey just a heads up, you added an extra “to become” in your title. Anyway great question, I’ve always wondered this, hopefully someone knows better.
Perhaps the growth of everyone placing files on clouds these days may be contribute to its inpopularity, or simply because the name just got lumped together with copyright infringement.
Interesting, I’m also feeling a bit disenfranchised. Why all the downvotes on this post? Wait, let’s check who these evil downvoters are… Yeah case in point, I see the problem here as this could lead to malicious trolling and the start of an undesirable platform.
Edit: lemvotes throws a 404 not found so did the fediverse dodge a bullet?

So interesting that you keep on using this derogatory term peon, like you have a disdain for the working class. Words like crybabies, smoothed brain, I’m surprised that you are receiving so much flack here on Lemmy because you’re such a sweetheart moonluna, perhaps there is a correlation with your handle and the subject matter of this post.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Has anyone noticed these new spam techniques used by music channels on youtube?English
3·5 months agoOne thing I’ve noticed lately is when you’re listening to an album in playlist format, and one of the tracks is an endless diatribe about some useless crypto scam, some get rich quick scheme masquerading as an actual song title from the album.

pics@lemmy.world•Barbequed rats along the roadside. CambodiaEnglish
89·5 months agoHunters take advantage of the field rats’ reliable presence and sell their bounty to local roadside vendors or export it to Vietnam. In Cambodia, sellers cook the rat over charcoal and serve it accompanied by dipping sauces made from lime juice and black pepper or fish sauce and chilies. The skin is salty and rich, similar to roast chicken, while the meat itself has the savoriness of pork. Most Cambodians pair it with a local lager, such as Angkor. And no you don’t eat the tail.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone else get told constantly they read to slow?English
3·5 months agoI imagine you’re looking for a solid understanding of everything you read, like when someone hands you the phone and you want to grasp the context. Speed reading and skimming are essential skills, but the nuances of doing so mean that the details of the information aren’t always apparent.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•does the quality of downloaded youtube video increase after being downloaded?English
1·5 months agoQuick question, why do you choose mp4 rather than say opus? Just wondering because I can’t often tell the difference on my subpar headphones. Do you choose high bitrate settings?
Edit: you mentioned the default, so I guess the bitrate falls somewhere in the middle for quality.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•does the quality of downloaded youtube video increase after being downloaded?English
5·5 months agoWhat codec are you downloading? My internet is a joke, its slow and vids are always compressed in real-time to adapt to the connection speed. Downloading the video (audio) gives you the option to get the original or uncompressed audio stream, you can set yt-dlp to download at the best available quality, so that could be the reason.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How will Google enforce the new requirements for apps outside Play Store to register? will they implement it in Google Play Services or in Android itself?English
2·5 months agoI would expect through changes to the Android operating system’s core functionalities and APIs. It’ll be a lot easier to enforce all this when handled at the OS level. I could be wrong though.
