I think upgrading the RAM as you mentioned is going to make a big difference. While the physical RAM might be soldered to the motherboard, you could buy a fairly cheap SD card or USB and set the system up to use that as virtual memory. It won’t be as fast as actual RAM but it might help and large SD cards are honestly really cheap these days.
If you like what’s on offer by Spotify, there’s a free alternative that I like called Spotube. It uses your Spotify account for recommendations but then uses YouTube’s (and YouTube Music’s) backend to get the songs. You can also change the backend use a Piped instance instead of YouTube.
I love how intuitive it is. I knew immediately that it meant “have you ever” or “do you ever”

The thing about time is that any likely division of an hour that you’d like, there’s an easy and even division. /2 = 30, /3 = 20, /4 = 15, /5 = 12, /6 =10, /10 = 6 and vice versa.
It’s pretty easy to get in the mind state of thinking a half hour is 30 minutes, or more specifically you can think 1.5 hours * 60 minutes / hour. The hours cancel out and you get 90 minutes.
My steps in engaging in polite conversation on the internet are:
Explain my point as clearly and concisely as possible.
Try to be respectful of differing opinions and keep an open mind.
Realize that mistakes happen, apologize for my mistakes and admit when I’m wrong. Also, be forgiving of the mistakes of others, point out any mistakes but do so as gently as possible.
Ignore people that are either intentionally misunderstanding you or aren’t making an effort to understand you.
I think the first two points are obvious and most people follow them, it’s the last two that a lot of people struggle with, even myself at times, but I’m working on it. I think the worst thing you can do on the internet is trash someone’s entire idea just because they made one tiny mistake. And putting in effort with trolls will quickly exhaust you, so you need to learn to identify and ignore them.
The problem here is that the riddle tricks you into thinking the total at the end should be 30, but because the herders originally give 30, but then get 3 back, the new total of sheep that changed hands is actually 27. In the end, the troll has 25 sheep and his sons have 2 sheep, 25 + 2 = 27 so all sheep are accounted for.
Yes, but as @Chee_Koala already pointed out it’s flat terrain and for the most part it’s relatively soft. If you were to extended walking in your home it would probably be wise to wear shoes or change your gait. Walking on hard cement or stone for extended periods of time while landing primarily on your heel would definitely be bad for you.
I doubt that there’s any real benefit to walking barefoot. There seems to be very little science to support it that I can find, but I’d be interested to see if anyone can find some.
I question the benefits mostly because it’s well known by historians that before the invention of modern shoes, most people walked very differently than we do now. Heel-to-toe walking basically didn’t exist until modern thick-soled shoes became commonplace, and instead toe-to-heel or rather ball-of-the-foot-to-heel was the norm.

My partner likes to listen to lofi music. Lately she’s been obsessed with Baldur’s Gate 3 so she plays a youtube video that’s 10 hours of the “down by the river” song and a campfire sound from BG3. We’ve also done a 10 hour Star Trek TNG bridge noises video before for awhile lol
Interesting. I live in southern Ontario and we definitely don’t have seat belts on buses here.
The other advantage of buses is that they have a lot of inertia due to their mass. The most likely thing for them to hit is a car and most likely because that car made a mistake. The bus can easily push a car out of the way without losing too much velocity. The same is not true of your average civilian vehicle.
The reason the bus driver has a seat belt and the kids don’t is because the kids have a padded seat back in front of them to stop them from launching forward in a crash. The bus driver has nothing but glass and the open road in front of them to stop them from launching forward in a crash. And seat belts help protect the bus driver from the airbags as they deploy from the steering wheel which have been known to deploy so forcefully that if you’re not wearing a seat belt they can kill you, and even in some extreme circumstances completely decapitate you.
Also as someone else pointed out the kids could get trapped in their seats in the event of a fire. The bus driver has a little seat belt cutting tool available to them, but in a fire they might not have time to cut 72 seat belts to free all of the kids on a big bus.
You might ask, well what if the bus rolls? It’s pretty unlikely that the bus would roll because bus drivers are trained pretty extensively and have to go through periodic medical exams and driving exams to make sure they’re capable of doing the job safely. Even if the bus were in a situation where it might roll, it’s very bottom heavy so it would take quite a lot to get it to tip over.

It’s not exactly a misconception that I’ve ever really held, but I absolutely hate the lazy writing trope in TV/film where hitting someone over the head and knocking them out is used so commonly and casually and there are never any repercussions.
In reality, if you get hit on the head hard enough that you lose consciousness for any length of time, you’re almost certainly going to suffer very serious brain damage. If you wake up at all - yes, it’s quite possible you’d die from this - then you’re going to have a major concussion, a huge headache, and probably a fracture in your skull and your brain will be swelling up inside your skull. It’s a VERY serious injury, and yet it’s just played off as this casual thing on TV and I think it’s incredibly dangerous how casually it’s depicted.
I haven’t seen anyone mention it yet, but a reason might be that providing an API is cheaper than web scraping.
If people really want access to your data, they can just scrape your website, but that requires loading all the data through the website itself which requires loading millions or billions of video thumbnails, comments, descriptions, recommendations, etc. It’s much cheaper for them to send a JSON through an API, even though they might know that some people are trying to undermine them by using that data to circumvent their advertising.
