I’ve been running birdnetpi on a raspberry pi 3 for years. It runs very well on this modest hardware. I also run birdnet-go in a docker container and use my reolink security cameras for the RSTP audio feed to that instance.

There are all sorts of AI/ML models available that can run on smaller hardware. But they are usually very specific and not general purpose, like the LLMs.

While this can be anecdotally true, higher order thinking does require a mastery of language.

I once worked with a guy who did not know the sun was a star and didn’t know what planets were. This was when I was in the military. I had a an unlabeled world map in my office and whenever someone new(to Germany) came in to be introduced I’d point to the map and say, “I’ll buy you a beer if you can point out our location on the map”. It was just an icebreaker so pointing at Europe was good enough. It was shocking how many people couldn’t locate Germany on a world map and quite a few couldn’t locate their home state on that world map.

I worked with another guy(a computer programmer) who thought the earth was 6000 years old. He also once told me that vertigo is when you feel like you’re standing still and the earth is spinning and indigo is when it feels like you’re spinning and the earth is still.

Duckweed and algae are much easier to grow and grow a hell of a lot faster. They can also be used to clean your water.

Thanks for the advice about the proxies. I’ll be looking into that as I continue to work on keeping prying eyes off our internet usage. I suspect this will be a never ending struggle for the rest of my life.

It seems that both google and reddit block requests coming from my VPN provider(PIA). I may have to set up my own VPN server using Azure or AWS if things keep going this way.

Thanks for this! I included degoog in my arr stack and it works great! I was surprised by the language support when I pointed my gluetun container to an an Italian exit node. But it’s very well documented and the language environment variable was easy to set. Nice!
