Thanks for the detailed writeup! Both those farms sound quite interesting.

end based copper farm
That sounds cool. Did the Drowned spawn in the End, or were they spawned in the overworld and shuttled through the portal?
Zombie spawner and just wait for them to convert to Drowned
Just as a note, while zombie reinforcement farms are an excellent source of copper, the converted zombies will not drop tridents or nautilus shells.

Trial chambers contain a lot of copper upon world generation, but they don’t generate any copper over time. If you rely on trial chambers as your source of copper, you’ll have to keep generating new terrain, finding and harvesting new trial chambers, trekking further and further from spawn over time.
Also, with the new spear mechanics, drowned farms are now AFKable without an autoclicker. I can go to sleep with a rock or something on my keyboard and wake up to chests full of copper, tridents, and nautilus shells. I cannot think of an easy way to automate the harvesting of copper from a trial chamber.

I refuse to cave in and build a useless farm for just this item
Just wait until you need large amounts of copper for something. I needed to collect three of each copper golem statue for every permutation of pose, oxidation state, and wax variant. After completing that project, we now have several shulker boxes of tridents which I have no idea what to do with.

I recall team games called “Project Ares”, which had “break the core” and “capture the wool” objectives. Is this similar?
I never played, but watched videos of it back in the day. It looked really fun.

I love the bowl of petunias appearing for a split second at 1:47 :)

To be fair, that’s not a particularly unusual end to xkcd What-If scenarios. The more interesting details are “how?” and “when?”.

Isn’t that acknowledged in the footnote at 1:32?

Unexpected !steamedhams@lemmy.ca

The shock on the camel’s face really sells it.

Great resource; thanks for sharing!

now this person doesn’t have the drastically higher chances of surviving Malaria
Do they not?
one parent passes on the gene it doesn’t lead to sickle cell yet it provides the benefits against malaria
They can’t have edited all of the patient’s cells, just enough of them to produce enough normal non-sickle blood cells to cure the disease. Would the remaining cells which still prosess the sickle-cell gene provide any protection against Malaria?

Cat button?

I’d like some emerald deepslate ore
Ah yes, the “this is useless but so rare that it’s a trophy”. Don’t forget your Silk Touch ;)

I’ve tried a bit of ATM10, but I still spend most of my time in Vanilla. Many mods seem to focus on adding “tech” elements to Minecraft, which feel a bit out of place to me. There’s something quaintly medieval about vanilla Minecraft.
I’m also uninterested in mods which “improve” the animations or graphics. It’s a pixel block game! In my opinion, crude graphics are part of the simplicity and charm.

Love the dappled forest vibe.

is it feasible to remove an end portal block in a non-creative world
Yep! I used the TNT + piston technique to remove one End Portal frame, and I think @PlusBurdles@lemmy.zip used the red mushroom technique to remove the three for our sand duper.
I know there are(used to be?) ways to destroy bedrock
We’ve also used similar TNT + piston techniques to remove bedrock to access the Nether roof.

Thanks to @goldteeth@lemmy.dbzer0.com for suggesting that “if you shoot the cart through the portal fast enough you may be able to just wing it directly onto a rail just off the spawn platform”.
You were correct :)
New dimension, I think, based on the Deep Dark biome?
