I just talk about climate change as if it is settled fact. Especially when I’m talking to someone who I know is a climate change denier, I just don’t even consider their position to be worthy of acknowledgment anymore. Sometimes, I’ll try to work in a common climate denial phrase as an example of just abject stupidity in modern society.

Example: the other day I was talking to a dude at a bar who was pretty clearly on the coal will save the world wagon, and AI came up. I said: “we lost the AI race to China back around 2008, when some [r-word], said the words ‘clean coal’ and people clapped instead of laughing at the idiot”. Then I watched the gears turn.

If you have to pay to go to grad school that’s the school’s way of saying you don’t belong there.

I remember the sudden groupthink, and the shift in villains. The bad guy was no longer a nondescript eastern European guy, the bad guy now wore a turban.

Pointlessly pretentious. Powered through the whole thing because it’s supposed to be good and. It’s not.

Its like having a conversation with an idiot that think using exclusively polysyllabic words makes them smart.

Also the part where all the highschool girls end up in relationships with 30+ year old men is certainly something.

And in an ideal world, kids don’t get head injuries and don’t get cocaine smeared on them. But we don’t live in that world.

And yet, cocaine is schedule 2 in the US, with legitimate medical uses primarily in pediatric emergency medicine.

I think there is benefit to society in creating alternatives to parasocial relationships with chat bots.

Until then, I see this as somewhat analogous to fighting ADHD by banning Adderall. Yeah, the drugs aren’t good for you, but the lack of them is worse.

Then it’s a problem of reading comprehension, because absurdism is not that. Absurdism is finding joy in action.
