To be honest, I’m so full of rage at the system and the people who prop it up that every so often I just need to let myself feel happy and proud of the people who live in said system and help to starve it, not feed it.

Absolutely there are people who like it because it helps validate their shitty positions but there are also people who just need a win to keep them going in pushing back. It helps to know that your anger is not a lonely anger, that your need for justice is not unique and small.

I’m not assuming anything, but I get that reading is hard. When you hit third grade it’ll get easier.

Not everyone plays tennis and the commercial spaces would be on the first level facing the road, not the inner courtyard. Good complaints in general but not really applicable here.

Two things:

1. It’s cheaper to manipulate opinions than do the right thing. It’s a tale as old as time and part of the reason why capitalist “innovation” is almost entirely focused on overhyped PR bullshit instead of actually making a good product. Carney’s a hardcore capitalist, expecting otherwise is a fool’s errand.
2. Governments should tell their citizens what they’re doing. A lot of people don’t see things in the news but still need to know. Yes it can be misused, but that doesn’t make it inherently bad.

There was a quote I saw recently that said something along the lines of the idea that if your satire becomes indistinguishable from that which you’re satirizing it ceases to be a joke and just becomes more fuel for your target.

For me it started with not breathing well through my noses so my mouth would taste awful when I woke up from being all dry and weird. Then it became an excuse to get my ass out of bed and moving.

There is that, but her plagiarism was kinda close to Vanilla Ice saying that he didn’t sample Under Pressure. A little aggressive, especially for her inflated ego and billions of dollars.

Absolutely agree about the other part though. She didn’t need the money to make her a shitty person, that was all original.

Not only that, but Rowling didn’t even dream up the world by all accounts. Just a bunch of plagiarized shit and racist stereotypes that happened to be the one which got extra popular.

It must be wild being the kind of person who reads about a piece of positive news like any renewable being widely adopted and then believes that it means that everyone is going all-in, 100% on it. Also hydro powers nearly all of Québec and in Ontario there are plenty of different sources of power but we still call it a “hydro bill”, not an “electricity bill”.

You’re like the people who hear about reducing cars in city downtowns and bring up rural farmers needing their trucks as if anyone is talking about that.

That just helps her point to all those people and lets her go “if I’m so bad, then how come…”.

Do not do this. Make content that tells her to go fuck herself. Be representation for others so that they can see that JKR and her incredibly mediocre books are not welcome in a world that cares about others.

Yes, it sounds funny on the face of it, but it’s ultimately just a terrible, bad, no good idea.

Yea, Bezos pretended he had an emptional enlightening and then kept doing terrible things. Dude’s so broken that seeing the whole planet from space wasn’t enough to set him straight.

Leftwing architecture is mixed-use, walkable neighbourhoods and community centers built with artistry in mind. It’s beatiful decor to old buildings that feel lived in. It’s parks and bus stops and bike lanes.

Rightwing architecture is a functionally dead grass lawn and a house so perfect that it feels not only dead, but oppressive. It’s replacing a slightly ugly group of three or four stores with a chain restaurant and a parking that generates less tax revenue for the city than the “shitty” stores did. It’s the old, dilapidated neighbourhood that’s falling apart because the city is too busy spending everyone’s tax money subsidizing the rich neighbourhood, then taking photos of only it and claiming that it’s better. No sidewalks, no nature, no way to get around without a car and nothing to do once you have one except a 45min commute in traffic to get to work.

Who’s talking about scales of human life? He wanted to know if one could just keep scaling planes and what that would require, and since no else had said anything I gave what answer I could which did contain some helpful information on that subject.

Nothing in the world really works at infinite scale because the size of atoms doesn’t change. In order for something to scale infinitely it also needs the environment in which it’s found to scale along with it.

Fun fact, the reason bees can fly is because, at their scale, the air is so thick that they’re actually doing something closer to swimming through it. A plane 6x as big would be, conversely, flying through incredibly thin air from its perspective.

I know it’s a joke but like, that’s what the bus/train is for.

That’s one extreme way to take the comment, I guess. I worked from home for a while and I think these return to office orders are stupid as hell, largely because going to the office needs unpaid commuting time, annoyances related to needing to bring a lunch, and it takes away your ability to do small chores and stuff during the work day that might be often impossible during the evening for one reason or another.

Look, if you want to work at the beach or whatever then go for it, but the idea that California is the “envy of nations” because people can do labour at a beach is insanity.
