Anytime. As long as it gets the job done, the PIs are totally fine. At least they don’t consume much power :-)
As you’re obviously no american, you also know that even if you’d pay netflix (for the FULL price i might add) you only get a fraction of what they got and not a penny discount for it. Sorry, but no. If you want my money, OFFER ME SOMETHING. Or discount me. That is just robbery.
So, you at least need a server for the whole work. A pi could do it, although you might not expect stellar performance off of it, but it would get the job done I assume. Except maybe live transcoding if that’s necessary (like watching 4k uhd content on a 720p phone or so).
So min-spec would be the combined min-spec for all services. As they probably also run on linux (i use win-20xx-server) it really should do.
You’d need:
And of couse:
Maybe, if you want to access everything from the outside and don’t want that machine to be totally exposed:
I admit, it’s a bit of tinkering and configuring, but once it’s working it’s fine. The *narrs auto-update reliably, emby does too. Occasionally you might manually update sabnzb and restart emby after an update, but that’s it.
I even integrated everything with telegram so I get notifications when someone added/moved/deleted something or stopped playing or whatever else. completely smart-home-integrated too.

Dude, for that sum you could pay people pirating and servicing it for you 😁
I would pay legit services. But to see it all i would need multiple services with multiple apps, half of which wouldn’t run on my rooted devices. So fuck them.
Sadly no. Not that i know. But once it’s setup it basically runs forever without tinkering. Impressive for open-source. Could name the software and/or services that are helpful.
Silly argument, as i pay for internet too. Also 5 bucks are not even a fucking coffee. For that i get what i dreamt of when i was selling pirate-cds for hundreds of bucks.
Dude, there is the golden age I’ve waited 20yrs for.
Check sonarr/radarr/prowlarr/lidarr etc. A lil work, some mere bucks a month for extra comfyness and you’re set. Never worry again.
This. Still one of the best.
Sorry, but religion has nothing to do with beliefs. Why do people always mix those? There’s also a difference between stealing for hunger and joining a drug cartel. You join a religion and take over their “beliefs”.
Religion is for the mentally handicapped who can’t think for themselves but need a group who tells them what to think. So they feel “connected”.
Besides that intermixing of terms, you’re not wrong. Have a belief. We all believe something, even if it’s nothing. I even love talking about people’s beliefs. As long as they’re in no cult (or religion), as i don’t want to interact with those. It’s like talking with a plant.
They’re basically the same. I’d extent that to outright banning of any religion. Believe whatever you want, but the moment people gather and share the same “true faith”, things get ugly.
The most stupidest gadget ever. Just because you CAN build it, doesn’t mean you SHOULD.
It’s literally in the term. But yeah sure, it’s easier to just smack the same label on everything. Whatever makes you happy.
They could simply
A) dislike X
B) hate/despise X
C) came to the logical conclusion, that X is bad/wrong/shouldn’t be/whatever
D) genereally mistrusting against X due to a careful nature
E) have had traumatic experience with X (e.g. Being raped/attacked by a member of a specific ethnicity) and hence totally overreacting to an otherwise harmless stimulus, even forgetting the rules of civil behaviour
Those all don’t mean there’s the medical condition of a phobia for X.
A real xenophobic has an irrational fear of anything unknown/alien. Doesn’t mean the person just hates e.g. Mexicans for no real reason. It might even like them once they get to know the better, which often just won’t happen as phobics tend to avoid the cause their phobia instead of treating it.
I just dislike the lax use of medical terms until they’re bereft of any real meaning.
So, a person who yanks “speak English!” to someone, could have many reasons to do. None are neither polite nor politically correct. While the asshole is probably just the uneducated asswipe, the phobic could be helped and probably even feels bad afterwards for being so compulsive and insulting.
Not everyone disliking something is necessarily phobic towards it. That’s just one possoble explanation.
Aye. SMS still exists. And for those boomers with their facebook and WhatsApp, it’s not even a new thing ☺️
Added bonus: those who do install “your” app, show a minimum in interest. You’re even worth the “effort”.
Well. I do it the other way. I would not install effing whatsapp just to reach someone. I tell then once where to find me, and, if they want to know, why this is and why i prefer it and why i wouldn’t install app X. If they don’t, then bad luck for me. Or not.
I’d say it’s a difference between being good which benefits myself too and basing a life on it. If you do something just to do good, you might be doing good, but aren’t good. As said, that mindset might quickly turn around if there’s suddenly no benefit to being good anymore. Sure, you could argue that the motivation to do good doesn’t matter as long as good is done. But, as said, it’s just so very volatile and setting no example for others.
As to charities…i had consulted two very big ones here and i said fuck-them and left after some days. Having access to their complete data made me puke. Up to that point I always thought charities were cool. But just to point out one:
Yes, they also did good things with their “income”. But literally >95% was for the “overhead”. The only good thing was that employees are basically non-fire-able. They even keep alcoholics who rarely show up, just to avoid negative publicity. Most of the people working there don’t even do anything anymore. They just spend the day surfing. Salaries were shit though. But if you got a job there, you would essentially be set for life.
The other “charity” wasn’t much different, i left even earlier with a “fuck you, i won’t work for you”. Sure, maybe there ARE good charities, who spend >80% for the charity not the “overhead”, but I don’t have to time to find out, hence i never donated a single cent anymore except tiny local associations i know (and work with/for).
Sorry, it’s hard to trust someone to be “good” when being good is actually the source of income. If it pays a sociopath to be nice, he’d be nice. Until it stops being beneficial. Doesn’t mean he COULD be nice. I don’t know the guy personally :)
Sanders might be nice, and also productive right now. But a look on how incredibly bad the USA looks to the world, i highly doubt he will REALLY do anything. Even if he has good intentions, it sadly doesn’t matter much. Though, everytime I read something about/from him, I always was like “why the fuck don’t they get THIS guy to run this shithole?! why do they want the assclown instead?!”.
Oh right, i was totally fixated on the npc and dialogue-thing. For everything else in production(!) it’s surely helpful. Texture-Generation. Seamless. Audio. Music. Even level generation and whatnot, that’ll be helpful a lot. I let ai design my watchface-background as i would’ve never found one i like and I’m creative as a doorknob.
But what it lacks is theme. You can only fill gaps, but you can’t let it generate everything. You still need an artist with a vision and a given theme.to have a consistent art-style.
Back in the early days we did it for competition/sports and maybe “fame” . Not for monetary reasons. Most of us never knew financial problems due to employers fighting over us 😁
Can’t speak for the modern crews. But it’s still unlikely. Other crews would find out, call out and their reputation would be done for. Not worth it as there are other options to get some bucks out of it
